After two days, Nevada finally gave up.
Their father helps her sell her things privately.
“I hope you are happy now.”
“Sure.” She didn’t play along with Nervada’s pitiful play. She can act on her own.
She has the money now, so their father asked her to go with the 3rd Prince’s men already.
Nevada giggles behind her back but she ignores her.
“Chalice.” Evan called.
Chalice turns around.
“We are still your family. No daughter can live peacefully outside without the care of her maternal family. So be careful of what you tell the 3rd prince and send a letter once in a while to catch up.”
“Sure.” She smiles.
‘Your mama.’
She thought he would ask for the gold. If he really asked for the gold she fought hard to earn, she would really be pissed.
Finally she will be leaving.
Her biological mother is the only one who watches her leave.
She bows her head to her before she enters the carriage.
She didn’t know her biological mother cried painfully as the carriage left.
Even if she knows…..she won’t be able to do anything.
They travel far.
There are three men travelling with her.
The Bleur actually disagree with this arrangement but the 3rd prince people are hard to talk to.
For a single woman to travel a 3 month journey, it was unheard of.
Nevada was even more relieved that it was not her.
Chalice is actually happy to travel alone. She has a 21st Century mentality so travelling with men doesn’t scare her. Plus the two major side characters are with her.
Terence and Gru are Benjamin’s apprentices.
They are only 14 and 15 years old.
Terence and Gru have their own fans in the novel. Terence is a snob who hates nobles but he admires his master and the prince.
Gru is a quiet and responsible guy. He also keeps to himself unlike the outspoken Terence.
Terence and Gru both don’t like the female lead and always show her cold demeanor.
Later the two will have separate tasks. Terence will be the female lead’s secret guard while Gru will be the ML wife’s guard.
Since they are both young and still inexperienced toward the opposite s*x they will both fall in love with the mistress they serve.
Female lead is jealous of the legal wife and instigates Terence’s feelings. An incident happened, while the male lead was away, distracted from the enemy’s plot, his wife and concubine were stuck in a dangerous situation. Female lead keeps instigating Terence’s tender love and was confused and bothered that his once good friend was all over the ‘enemy’.
Using a desperate situation, the female lead tries to kill the legal wife but Gru uses his body to save her. The ml arrived soon after to save them but Gru lost so much blood and didn’t make it.
Terence blames himself and becomes depressed. He tried to kill the female lead but the crown prince intercepted. Benjamin proves his loyalty and kills his beloved apprentice.
That is what broke the camel’s back and Benjamin rebels and the Emperor becomes crazier.The Emperor’s only friend betrays him. So he becomes more cruel and he releases all this frustration in bed, making the female lead wish to kill him herself but between pain she will still succumb to pleasure and loses herself control. Wild bedroom will follow.
She fakes a cough. Her face is red and hot.
They are camping in the forest tonight as they didn’t reach the next town before the sun sets.
Chalice is not much of an outgoing person but she at least has experience of outdoor camping with schoolmates and relatives.
The three men are not very thoughtful so she had to make arrangements to make her life easier.
“Food is ready.” She said,
“.....”
Terence and Gru find her peculiar. There are two carriages. One is full of her things and the other is what she is riding on.
They need to travel lightly so it’s the best they can do. Aside from the coach driver. Terence and Gru take turns in coaching the other carriage.
“Hurry and eat it before it gets cold.” She said
“Are we eating too?” The two tilt their heads confused. They are already shocked when she starts cooking. They think she is really delicate. Who would cook meals while traveling? It’s too troublesome. Eating dried food is the best and most efficient.
“Ofcourse. Sir Mellos too.”
“It’s an honor, my lady.” The driver is very respectful and flattered.
“It’s not that curry base soup with dried meat and potatoes.”
The driver took a bowl and sat down near the fire.
“Oh my, it is spicy!”
“It’s cold tonight. Give a bit more heat.” She looks at Terence and Gru.
Their ending in the book is a trigger to the biggest plot but she hopes it won’t happen in this life.
She felt sad that these young children barely know what love is and yet died and caused the most important person to betray his best friend.
“Terence..Gru..you two eat too. You don’t have to eat a lot, just think of it as something to warm the body.”
“.....I didn’t say I won’t eat.” Terence smells the fragrance of the soup. He is a bit tempted.
Gru also lined behind Terence with a wooden bowl.
Chalice smiles and gives them half the bowl of soup to try their tolerance to spicy food.
“Is it really good?” Terence said as he blows the food that is already in his mouth.
“Um…” Gru drinks water first after swallowing.
“It’s a bit spicier than expected.”
She smiles.
People that usually stayed in cold places tend to favor flavors that are stronger and spicier.
Though not true for all, she is expecting this response.
“If you like it, I will make dinner when we camp outside.”
Terence shakes his head.
“No.”
“Why not.”
“My lady, you will marry the prince upon arriving in the North. If they learned we let you cook dinner, what would the Prince think?”
“Won’t he just ask me to cook for him too?”
“.....” the two look at Chalice nonchalant expressions.
Chalice tilts her head.
She is sure that the ML is screwed in the head compared to a modern person but his personality is not evil. He is also not stingy. Also very playful and a power trip.
She does intend to have a hobby. Cooking and baking are things he likes to do. She is not a professional but she thinks what she does is edible.
“Don’t say no. Plus I am not always going to cook. Just a few times when we are camping and only dinner. If we reach the town we can just order food. It’s not just you, I’m also going to eat. And it’s best to eat together.”
“Then let us help prepare the food too. We can cut meat and vegetables and Terence will find firewood and make a fire.” Gru said.
Terence looks at Gru and then looks at the smiling Chalice.
“Do what you want.”
Chalice gives them a thumbs up.
“Nice.”
Mellos smiles.
It feels a bit warmer tonight.
