Nora called Mason the morning after she talked to Lucas and Renata at the Toasted Tavern. He was still at home; she heard children’s voices in the background: a family breakfast. When she told him she’d talked to Lucas he said, ‘You did what?’
‘I know. I didn’t plan on talking to him, I just wanted to get a better look at him.’ Before Mason could interrupt Nora said, ‘Renata Merkel was there, too. They’re together, Mace. They’ve been together since before Benjamin died.’
