The meeting.
Anxiety filled the atmosphere just like a threatening storm ready to burst. Caroline went back to work in the palace kitchens, but she couldn't stop thinking about her meeting with the Alpha.
While she was working, she couldn't stop herself from noticing the angry looks and quiet conversation from the other slaves. Anto walked up to her with a creepy smile.
"So, little outcast, who were you talking to last night," Anto asked in a mean and spiteful manner.
Caroline squeezed her hands tightly together, feeling afraid and her heart beating fast. She couldn't tell anyone what happened when she met Adonis, and she understood that Anto was a threat.
"I don't know what you talking about" Carol lied.
Anto squinted her eyes, and moved closer, as she spoke in a soft and threatening tone. "Stop tricking me, Carol. I saw you talking to a man last night. I saw the two of you together. You should tell me everything, or you will be very sorry."
Carol's mind was going fast, and she made a decision very quickly. "I have nothing to say. "
Anto's face twisted with anger, and she forcefully grabbed Carol's arm, causing him pain. "You stupid being. Do you have any idea who talking to? "
Before Carol could respond, Anto screamed to alert the guards.
"She's having an affair with an outsider. She's a terrible person. "
The guards quickly grabbed Carol and forcefully took her away, not listening to her objections and pleas that she was innocent.
As they pulled her towards the head of slave quarters, Carol couldn't help but worry if her choice to defend Adonis had determined what would happen to her in a Pack that saw her as someone who didn't belong.
The tension in the blood moon pack kept getting higher as Carol started experiencing the results of her private meeting with the Alpha.
**********
As time passed, the atmosphere in the blood moon pack became even more intense. Carol's future was uncertain, and everyone could feel the strong nervousness in the air. The Pack stopped going to the slave quarters at night.
_______
It's 4:30 pm and the evening sun is slowly fading away from the sky.
Carol was trapped in a dark room inside the pack. She felt scared and anxious as she sat there, captured like a prisoner. She pondered what fate awaited her after the decision us been passed. The room was tiny, wet, and scary, with the faint sounds of far-away cries.
The door made a screeching sound as it opened slowly, and then the Alpha's little sister Anto showed up with two hefty guards. She stared deeply into Carol's eyes. "You've been very stubborn lately. Rumors got to us that you disrespected everyone, aside from other nasty stuff you've done recently. Is that correct?"
Carol looked at her with strong determination without moving his gaze. "I don't have anything to tell you. Believe the rumor if you want. I don't give a fuck." She said, her voice shivering.
Anto formed a creepy smile. Okay, no problem. "We know how to make you speak," she motioned to the guards, who came closer to Carol in a threatening manner.
Roderick, the first guard, spoke in a way that freaked Caroline. "Things don't have to be like this. You can make things simpler for yourself.
Caroline stayed determined. "I have decided."
The second guard moved closer, and there was a mean look in her eyes. "You're being stubborn, aren't you? We will need to find out if you are."
Anto brought a tiny bottle that had a strange liquid inside and went up to Carol. "This is your final opportunity, Carol. Please tell us the identity of this man so we can bring this to a conclusion. If you say no, you will feel a lot of pain that you cannot even imagine.
Carol's heart was beating fast, but she tightly closed her teeth together and shook her head. I will not deceive him. I refuse to do it.
Anto signaled to the guards. They made Carol open his mouth forcefully and poured the liquid into his throat. It had a terrible taste, and it burned as it went into the stomach. Carol was shocked and struggled to breathe because of the horrible mixture.
As time went by, Carol's body twisted in pain. She screamed in agony, her eyesight becoming unclear as she felt like her true self was being ripped apart. However, she continued to say no to talking.
Anto looked closely with both interest and enjoyment. "Isn't she amazing? However, we still have more ways to attempt."
Time passed and Carol's suffering continued. She went through physical and mental pain, but she stayed strong. She was very sure she would keep Adonis's identity a secret, regardless of the expense.
"I guess this will make you confess," Anto spat at Carol and walked away with the guards.
A few hours later, she showed up again. Caroline was lying down weak and hurt when Anto came into the room again. Her face showed a different look like she somewhat admired it but didn't want to. "You are very strong, Carol. Sure, I'll agree to that.
Carol could hardly speak loudly, as her voice was very quiet. "I would never tell anyone who he is. "
Anto moved closer, speaking in a secretive tone. "Maybe there is a different option. A method to keep both him and yourself safe."
Carol looked hopeful and surprised. "What do you mean?"
Anto quickly looked around, making sure nobody was listening. "If you can prove to the Alpha that your love is real and that your relationship is sincere, he might have to forgive both of you."
Carol knew it was a plot to get her to talk, but played along. "How can I accomplish that? "
Anto was happy. She blinked her eyes to display a touch of kindness. "I have an idea. But it won't be simple, and it will need you to believe in me.
" She lied to her only to find out who the man was that he was with.
"Even if you killed me, I will not talk," Carol said determined even more. She knew the troubles she would face if she revealed the king's identity would be more than what she was going through right now.
