II.By the time we come out, it has started to drizzle. We're lucky to find a cab right outside his building. He doesn't say much the whole way, but from the corner of my eye I can see he keeps looking in my direction. So does the driver for that matter. Back and forth from me to him, through the rear-view mirror. I pretend not to notice and just sit still, holding his hand. I'm hatching a little plan to surprise him. Hopefully my scheme will coax him more out of his shell. I'll have to do some reconnaissance too once we get to the hotel. Meanwhile he's starting to fidget, growing more nervous the closer we get.
