“Miss Brown,…we can’t do much if she is not performed right away. I will ask you to do anything to arrange the money…” I got my hand on my mouth and sobbed. I wonder what I will do now.
I walked back to have a look at my mom from the windowpane. She hasn’t reached her fifties even. She was forty-three years old and was far too young to have heart disease.
It was only her daughter for what Catherine had lived for and now Sarah wanted to do anything to save her mom too.
Mrs. Williamson was the first thing that rang in her brain and asking Sandra to stay in the hospital for her mom she took Sandra’s car to get to Williamson’s mansion. She had to wait for hours for Mrs. Williamson’s arrival. Even then the guard wasn’t allowing her to go and see Mrs. Williamson. She was asked to leave by the staff but “Please, let me see her for once. It is really important.” She continued requesting.
In the evening, one of the staff came to tell her that her request had been told to Mrs. Williamson but she still refuses to see her.
It didn’t come as a surprise to Sarah. She knew Mrs. Williamson was not into giving favors. But Sarah didn’t know anyone besides Williamson’s who could help her. And, to tell the truth, the money that would take Sarah years to save up they could give her and wouldn’t even remember.
And, even then Sarah wasn’t here to ask for the charity. She was persistent to send requests to Mrs. Williamson that she will return this money. Even the guard couldn’t help but show sympathy with her. Catherine was working here for the last many years. And, he too wonders why this Williamson family had to be so rude.
This was the reason that she was allowed to wait on Mrs. Williamson in the security room that wasn’t quite far from the huge iron gate. One of the staff members came out to repeat the same thing.
“Mrs. Williamson refuses to offer anything. She is pressing how they don’t owe Catherine anything more than her monthly salary.” And, that literally broke Sarah’s hope but what came out of her mouth was. “I…I can’t leave. Please try to understand. My mom…”
“Please, Sarah…we can’t help you more than this. If you want to wait for Mrs. Williamson to change her decision. Now, you have to wait outside. She had asked you to remove from here.”
“Please…I really don’t have any option. Please…I really need money for my mother’s surgery. I promise I will return every single penny…” And, before she could complete her sentence she heard someone say from her back. “Is this you!” Sarah turned to look at Valerie and got her eyes widened. She wonders what she was doing here. But before Sarah could react Valerie walked to her saying. “So, it is you…who that maid’s daughter is. Hmm…I really feel bad for you. I mean…I have heard Aunt Rachael…I am sure she isn’t going to give you a single penny. Why don’t you go out and beg on the streets…I mean…that way you might get something but here…” She trailed off making Sarah press her mouth.
Valerie opened her mouth to say something but a horn got her attention and she looked back. Sarah too got her face up and found Mr. Williamson, the sole heir of Williamson's group in his Lamborghini.
“Excuse me…my boyfriend is waiting for me…and, as for your mother…I think you should just give up on the idea of getting any help from here.” She looked at Valerie going away in her high silhouette.
Sarah had to leave the premises given the guards wouldn’t let her stay and she walked back to the hospital only to see Sandra crying her eyes out in the lobby. “What happened?” She almost yells looking at Sandra who too was quick to look at her.
“Is she alive?” Sarah got hysterical and Sandra too held her hands. “She is alive but she got seizures and…a heart attack…doctors had got her vitals steady…I can’t see her like this, Sarah…Oh god…I hope I could do something.”
Sarah inhaled sharply before she too took her heavy feet to the window pane to have a look at her mother. Her mother…the one she always found smiling and welcoming looks lifeless and was fighting for each breath.
She knew this was it. She knew she had to live with the fact that she let her mother suffer. “I…I am so sorry, mom. I am so sorry.” She hiccupped but before she could give in to sobs her phone rang.
Her eyes got narrowed seeing an unknown number, “Hello,” She whispered walking away and was rubbing the tear from her right cheek.
“I know you don’t know me. But I mean help. I am Mr. Williamson talking. I hope you didn’t mind how Valerie treated you,”
“What…I…how did you get my number?” He sounded a little old to be called Mr. Williamson. Robert’s father was dead and it doesn’t sound like Robert.
“About that don’t worry…why you don’t see me at blue moon lounge…remember, I can help you with your mom…suite no A3,”
“How dare you?” She had lived her childhood here to know what that lounge meant. It was only a lounge in the name. Blue moon was an expensive hotel in the area.
“Don’t you dare call me again,” She cut the call and in only ten minutes got fifty thousand dollars in her account. She was about to call her bank when Sandy came in.
“There are some doctors around. Seeing how they can’t give up they had collected twenty thousand dollars,”
“Sandy, I think someone sent the money,” Sarah said only for Sandy to yell, “What?”
Sarah nodded her head, “Yes, let’s go.”
They ran her card and it went through. Sarah smiled looking at Sandy and they started preparing for the surgery.
“The doctors here are good people. We still need to thank them for how they are taking her for surgery right away,” Sandy said and Sarah smiled too.
“Just pray for the mom right now,” Sarah whispered back.
A text popped on her phone reminding her how someone probably Robert Williamson was waiting for her. Well, the person only said Williamson but who else would know how Valerie treated me?
He didn’t sound anything as Robert should. How did she know? She had seen him on the television and billboards a lot of times. He was a known face. She would hate to admit it because he was a Williamson but his voice could be picked from the thousands.
She looked at the text that boiled her blood and the fact how she used that money to pay for that surgery had her restless. What if she lands into some trouble for using this money? She knew she had to meet this creep even if it was for calling the cops on him. Anything else and she could land into trouble? If Williamson thought they could get away with anything they were wrong.
Once her mom went inside for the surgery she took Sandy’s car to the hotel. She had her phone’s voice recorder on. She was given the card for the suite A3 without any problem and kept speaking in the recorder about how she is going to uncover the man who called her and sent her fifty thousand dollars while the elevator took her to the floor mentioned on the card key.
It was only in the front of that door of the suite that she realized how this could be a creepy serial killer instead. Or who would give anyone fifty thousand dollars for a night?
She was always the brave one and pushed the door to get in. The suite was luxurious and huge and one of the servers could be seen serving someone the dinner.
“Excuse me? Is it the A3 suite?” She asked and heard the same gravel voice in response. “Yes…and, I was expecting you.” She inhaled sharply while the man got his hand up and waved for that server to leave.
He left and she got ahead to ask, “So, you are the one who sent me fifty thousand dollars?” Sarah asked and kept walking until she was in front of him and could see his face.
“Mr. Williamson?” I knew this person. He was Robert Williamson’s uncle.
“Hello darling, I knew you would come,”
“Will you please tell me what it was all about?” Sarah started only for that oldie to smile,
“I saw you at Rachael’s residence. Get to know how your mother required help. It was too bad of Mrs. Williamson’s for how she didn’t help. Well, I did. So, it is all sorted, right?" Sarah looked at that man and had sweat on her forehead the moment he started looking at her intently. This man's right eye was damaged and the lens was completely white with a scar that was very profound at the inner corner of his eye to the nose. The silence was only making the situation more creepy.
Sarah gulped hard before she managed. “I am really grateful. I will try to pay you back as soon as possible…” And, this got Mr. Williamson’s expression tense before he said, “I guess you already know why I paid you. Don’t you? You are young and beautiful. There are a lot of other things I would want from you for that help…” Sarah clutched on her purse and looked straight into his eyes. “I am not this kind of woman. And, you…you didn’t pull the right move there. You have no idea what I can…”
“Watch your tone! For this money, you will have to be my mistress for a year or…”
“Or what!” Sarah challenged him while he only smiled, “For the starter, you came here on your own free will but you won’t be able to leave from here."
The realization of his words made her knees wobble in fear. “What the hell you are talking about?” She seethed and not wasting a minute walked away to the door only to find it locked. The card didn’t work too.
“How dare you!” Sarah seethed turning around and that man smiled, “Well, even if you hadn’t come I was going to get you here anyway. So, you better not resist and accept my proposal.”
“Don’t you dare have any fancy ideas about me? I told you I didn’t want that money.”
“Then, return it to me,” He replied and that only made Sarah look at him. She knew this person comes from power. His wife was a famous and favorite senator and they had a reputation they should care about but no. These rich people would only use their money and power to exploit people like her.
“I will return that money soon…” Sarah tried the door again before she looked at him. “…let me go,”
She could feel her temples going wet when she found that man getting up from his place. Her short height was already a disadvantage and though she knew she had the proofs against him now as voice notes, they were of no use until she didn’t have the chance to show it to the cops.
He looked murderous walking to her and that lust in his eyes. He wasn't even trying to hide it as he kept staring at her from head to toe. Sarah tried on the door again. “You…I will report you to the cops.”
“A very wrong move I must say,” And, that made Sarah drag her phone up before she tried calling only for Mr. Williamson to snatch her phone. Her body jumped to get the phone only to get a strike on her face.
She fell on the floor only for someone to open the door of the suite. She looked up to find his wife.
“I have caught you red-handed today!” The woman yelled only for Mr. Williamson to retort. “You sent this woman to me. This is what happened here, Jennifer. Or what else can explain this woman throwing herself at me.”
“No,…no,…” Sarah tried to say but Jennifer looked at her. Saying that Jennifer’s intimidating aura stripped her ability to make words was an understatement. She had seen Jennifer only in the news and now she was seeing her for the first time and that too in this position.
“Who are you? Who sent you! If you didn’t reply to me this instant I will call the police on you!” Jennifer threw her words at her only to make her cower before she looked at the phone that Mr. Williamson snatched from her.
