“Let’s get out of here,” he said finally, his voice low. “Take a ride. Somewhere quiet.” I lifted my head to look at him, surprised by the intensity in his eyes. “Where?” He shrugged, but there was something restless in the gesture, like he needed to move, to do something to shake off the tension clinging to him. “Doesn’t matter. Just… away.” I nodded, squeezing his hand. “Okay. Let’s go.” We left the apartment without another word. Talon’s motorcycle was parked in its usual spot, gleaming under the pale afternoon sun.
