The night blurred into a haze of music, laughter, and the occasional roar of a heated argument that was quickly shut down by Jake or one of the other enforcers. Talon stayed close, his presence a constant anchor amidst the chaos. I caught him watching me more than once, his gaze softening when our eyes met.
