A mix of exhaustion and anxiety weighed heavily on me as we pulled up to the farmhouse. Talon cut the engine and helped me off the bike, his strong arms steadying me as we made our way inside. I headed straight for the kitchen, desperately needing something to calm my nerves. I pulled out a bottle of tequila from the cabinet and poured myself a generous glass, downing half of it in one gulp. The burn in my throat was a welcome distraction from the chaos in my mind.
