The Blood Pact no

The kiss wasn’t gentle. It was a collision of starved souls, a desperate, frantic burning that swept away every coherent thought in my head. His lips were hard and demanding, tasting of dark forest pine and cold mountain air, yet the heat radiating from him was intoxicating enough to melt my bones. My hands, which moments before had been pushing against his chest in blind panic, tangled fiercely into the dark hair at the nape of his neck. I pulled him closer, arching into his warmth as a breathless gasp escaped my lips, swallowed instantly by his mouth. For years, I had been starved of safety. For years, I had been touched only with cold calculation or cruel intent. But under Kaelen’s hands, every fiber of my being lit up like dry tinder meeting a spark. My inner wolf, dormant and terrified for so long, clawed her way to the surface with a wild, triumphant roar, taking total control of my senses. Kaelen groaned against my mouth, a deep, resonant vibration that rattled straight down to my toes. He shifted his weight, pressing me deeper into the thick furs of the bed as his massive frame caged me in completely. One of his large, calloused hands slid up my ribcage, tracing the frantic, jackhammer rhythm of my heartbeat before tangling in my hair, tilting my head back to grant him deeper access. The sheer intensity of it terrified me—and made me crave more. When he finally broke the kiss, we were both breathing heavily, our chests heaving against one another in the dim firelight. His amber eyes were completely wild, ringed with a dark, primal fury that had nothing to do with anger and everything to do with absolute, unyielding possession. "Do you still think I'm just another cage?" he whispered, his thumb tracing the swollen, sensitized line of my lower lip. His voice was a raw, gravelly caress that sent a fresh shiver racing down my spine. I swallowed hard, my pulse still hammering a frantic beat against my throat. The anger and defiance that had fueled my escape were rapidly evaporating, melting into something far more dangerous: an electric, magnetic pull to the monster who had claimed me. "I don't know what I am," I breathed out, my voice trembling as my fingers rested tentatively against his solid, unyielding chest. "I only know Victor is hunting me. If he finds out I'm here—if he finds out what you've claimed—he'll bring an army." At the mention of Victor’s name, the dark, seductive heat in Kaelen's eyes vanished in a heartbeat, replaced by the lethal, cold fury of an apex predator ready to tear the world apart. He pulled back just enough to look down at me, his jaw clenching so hard the muscle ticked beneath his skin. "Let him bring an army," Kaelen growled, the alpha command in his tone ringing out with terrifying, absolute authority. "Let him march every soldier and hound he has to the base of this mountain. They will find out why no one ever leaves Bloodmoon territory alive." He pressed one final, lingering kiss to my forehead, his lips burning against my skin like a brand, before pulling away and standing up from the bed. The sudden loss of his body heat left me shivering, an inexplicable ache hollowing out my chest. "Rest," Kaelen ordered, turning toward the heavy oak doors with his broad shoulders squared for war. "My guards secure the perimeter tonight. Tomorrow, the pack will learn the name of their new queen." Before I could find the voice to argue, the heavy doors swung open and slammed shut behind him, leaving me alone in the flickering firelight with a racing heart, a burning skin, and a destiny I could no longer run from.
