Shayde stepped away from the edge of the terrace, dragging Adeline with him before throwing her on the ground at his feet. She landed on her hand and lost balance, crashing on her face with a grunt. She stayed down until the wave of pain passed and, to her relief, Shayde didn’t seem in a mood to torture her. He just paced around impatiently, glancing towards the door she had come from with growing impatience. Adeline pushed herself up, wincing as her knees ground against the rough stone surface. A lot of her cuts that had stopped bleeding were opening again from the strain, but at least the stringing was making it easier to focus since it kept her alert and stopped her body from dropping with exhaustion.
