CHAPTER ELEVEN

"Am I dreaming?" Celeste asked, smiling widely at me. "You greeted him, Charmaine!" she added. It seemed like she was not done talking yet, but she just bit her tongue when she saw me enter our class and when I headed to Lawrence's seat, who was now quietly looking at me. I slowly walked in his direction. I don't know, but I felt some weird feelings in my chest while I was closing our distance. I stopped in front of his desk, which made his forehead furrow while looking at me. "What are you doing here?" he asked. It seems like a puzzle for him that I am now here in front of him. "I haven't prepared any sample designs that you can ruin right now," he added, as if he was mocking my presence in front of him now. "Go back next week." Just because I am here in front of him, does that mean that I will ruin again his samples? Can't I be here in front of him to fix the fight I started between the two of us? I let out a smile in front of him that he didn't see because he quickly turned his attention to the book he was holding. I did nothing but pucker my lips before I decided to lay the bottle of milk on his table that Celeste reminded me of last week. I recall Celeste reminding me that whenever I did something wrong with Lawrence, I needed to bring him a bottle of milk. I know that until now, I didn't apologize to him for the second time I ruined his plates. I also know that until now I didn't thank him for saving me when I attempted to jump on top of the rooftop. I knew I had done a lot of wrong things to him and it had all piled up because of my lack of time to deal with him. I know that he can forgive me now, especially since I am the one who came to him voluntarily… because I am also at fault. He slowly lost his attention to his book and it shifted in the bottle I laid in front of him. "I know that I've done a lot of wrong things to you," I said before I looked at the black bottle of milk. "I also know that you can't forgive me at all, but I believe that somehow a simple gift can ease your anger at me." "And the gift you're referring now is a bottle of milk?" he asked, which made me lift my lips. "And who the hell says that I'm mad at you, Miss del Real?" I was a bit surprised when I turned my gaze to Celeste, who was now laughing from afar while Kevin had a ghost of a smile on his lips as he looked at us. Our classmates who were known to be listening to our conversation seemed to be celebrating a mysterious celebration. I did nothing but pout my lips before I turned to Lawrence, who was now folding his arms in his chest and staring at my reaction. "It means that you're not mad at me for what I did to you last week?" I asked, confusedly, before I tried to grab the bottle of milk that I layed on his desk. He quickly snatched it from my hand and placed it under his desk, which made the whole classroom growled, especially when they saw what he did. He prompted me to leave in front of him. He replied, "No, not really," which made me a bit embarrased when he shooed me away. I watched him for a while in his posture before I shrugged and went to my seat without looking at him. Celeste approached my direction to question me about my actions, while I did nothing but answer her allegations until the lecturer arrived that day in our class. Celeste didn't do anything but let me go, especially when the lecturer himself released her. My first day on this world was complete. This is my official first day in this unusual world, so even though I had a bad mood when some of my classmates teased me, I just smiled at them. I don't know but it seems like Lawrence was the reason why the smile on my lips crept the whole time. Kevin and I were busy walking in the middle of the corridor when someone stopped in front of us. She was wearing a black hoodie. Her lip is a bit red and I’m sure it’s her normal lip color. From the look and the way she stood in front of us, I can say that the family she belongs to is wealthy. Both of her cheeks were also a little red as she happily stared at us. "Get out of our sight, Geo," Kevin said, causing me to turn to him in surprise before staring again at the girl in front of us. She temporarily lifted the edge of her lip before her forehead twitched and pushed Kevin away from me to grab my arm and hug me. I was shocked by what she did, so I couldn't help but be startled by her actions in front of me. "I don't care about you, Kevin!" she laughed before leaning her cheek on my shoulder while hugging my left arm. I did nothing but remain silent while Kevin jokingly pinched the girl who hugged me on her waist. Eventually, I laughed at their reaction, even though I had no idea who and what the persona of the girl who remained hugging my arm was. "You didn't attend my party yesterday!" she said before she faced me while puckering her lips. I did nothing but remain silent while my eyes remained on her. "How many times have I reminded you to attend, haven't I?" "I forgot…" "And do you think I'll believe you?" she said while lifting her eyebrows. I faked a smile in front of her, which made her eyes even narrower as she stared and criticized my reaction. "It's up to you if you believe me." "Asshole," she said, which made me chuckle. Kevin lifted his arm with his blanket before he wrapped me in it and pulled me away from the unfamiliar girl who interrupted the two of us. He laughed and pulled me away from her while the girl snatched my arm again, which I just laughed at. I was busy laughing with them when I felt the familiar pain in my head before I completely lost consciousness. I woke up in a familiar room, in the cafeteria where we were always having our lunch break. Before I shifted in my seat, I temporarily surveyed the quiet and busy surroundings and when the same girl sat at the table where I was. I lifted my hand to check on her if she saw me, but it seemed like she couldn’t see or feel my presence in front of her. Instead of leaving the table where she was, I just sat in my seat while busy watching her. Her eyes remained fixed on her phone, which she used to keep herself busy while waiting for someone. Her cheeks are a little red now compared to the last time I saw her earlier. Her lashes are long and a bit curly at the end. It seems like the curling did intentionally. Her eyebrows were in the right shape, rising slightly as she stared at her phone screen. She looks like an angel for me. A naive angel descended from heaven to sit in front of me. I could stay in my seat while staring at her just like what we are doing now. It seems like I won't get tired of staring at her angel-like face in front of me. I almost leaned down on the table while staring at her, but when I felt a student sitting next to me, I shifted in my seat. I turned my gaze to my side to look for who it was, and my eyes almost widened when I saw Lawrence, who was now smiling at the girl in front of us. Is there something going on between them? "She didn't attend my party that I made for her," Georgina said before she removed her gaze from the phone and lowered it to the table. She stared at him as if she was innocent of something. "I don't know what her reasons are but I'm sure it was important. You know, she can't last a week without seeing you from afar, "she said before she rolled her eyes. Lawrence chuckled, the reason why I turned to him in surprise. It seems like this is the first time I’ve heard him chuckle right in front of others and I don’t know what role she was playing in his life. Is there something going on between them? Are they both in a relationship, and am I the third party for them? "That's okay though," Lawrence said, which made her smile as if she was mocking his answer. "She's not that important to me." "Couz, "Georgina began before leaning on the table in front of him. "I already know you. You don't show other people your disappointment in her absence, but I can read you. I know you and I know this is not your reaction whenever you don't like something, "she added before she leaned back in her seat. If they are cousins, it just means they have no relationship, and even more so, there is nothing going on between them. If that's the case, who are they referring to in their conversation? I have no idea about the girl they are referring to, but I'm sure the woman they are discussing is nearby. I mean, what am I doing here if everything they're talking about has nothing to do with Charmaine? Does Lawrence like Charmaine but he is afraid to let her know about it? What is scary and why do they have to keep it a secret? Does his ego have anything to do with it? Do I really need to make him admit his feelings for her? But how will I do that if Lawrence is elusive like a dove? I faintly lifted my head from lying down. I was not familiar with the white room where I was, but when I saw Nurse Shiera smiling weakly at me, I already knew where I was. This is my third time to be a patient at her clinic and I don't know how many more times I will return to this place just to get everything I needed to know about them. I don't know how long I will endure all of this and I don't even know if there is any cure for this disease while I'm still here. "Kevin said you fainted in the middle of the corridor when Georgina tried to pull you away from him," she said as I nodded shyly. Another student was lying on the bed next to where I was lying. Just like me, she is conscious now and has a wound being treated on her knee by another nurse who is with Nurse Shiera. I lost my gaze on the student when Nurse Shiera wiped a clean wipe on my cheek. I could do nothing but let her clean the wound on my cheek until she put on the band-aid just like what happened before. "Kevin told me earlier that your unconsciousness was getting worse," she said before she stood up and faced me, carrying the tray she had brought earlier. "I'm not knowledgeable about such things. Why don't you seek a doctor, Charm?" I fake a cough before smiling at her "I don't feel anything but a headache, Nurse. I think I just need to rest. " My stay at the clinic didn't last long when I decided to go back to my class. She told me that Kevin was already back in our class while I was still unconscious earlier. I'm excused in our class, so I'm sure that the professor will understand me if I come back in the middle of his discussion. And just like what I expected… "Are you sure you're okay now, Miss del Real?" The proffesor asked. I didn’t immediately turn my gaze to the professor who was waiting for my answer when my eyes darted at the man standing next to him. He was seriously staring at the book he was holding before he had the guts to turn in my direction and stare right into my eyes. His gaze lingered across my body before the frown on his forehead disappeared when he turned to me. I swallowed and nodded to the professor, who was now waiting for my response. I waited for him to give me permission to enter the class before I went to my chair to secretly pinch Kevin's waist, which he complained about. "You left me at the clinic," I said, which made him chuckle a bit. I puckered my lips before I rolled my eyes at him. "Ashhole." "I'm sorry, Charm. I can't leave my class with Mr. Romuladez, "he reasoned before he shifted in his seat and turned to me with a grin on his lips. "You already know that I have to pass something to him, right? I failed his subject last semester. I need to get serious now." My eyes narrowed at what he said before folding my arms as I sat down. "I don't remember you having a failed subject," I said, which made him chuckle. "Just because I've lost my memory, that doesn't mean you can lie to me. I know that you're a smart student and you can't hide anything from me." My lips rose a bit when he gave up on what I had said. "Okay, fine," he said, which made me chuckle. "I know that I'm not going to win in terms of debate with you," he added. "But can I request you for something?" "What kind of request, Kevin?" He smirked because of my question. "Do you want to know?" "I already told you, Kev," I answered, slightly annoyed at him. "Don’t make me wait for your stupid remarks." He chuckled a bit before getting serious. "Raise your right hand so so that I could tell you." "Are you kidding me?" I asked, but I still did what he requested of me. I slowly raised my right hand as if he was the one who could see me. "Just like this?" "Higher than that," he suggested, which made me shake my head, but still, I did what he wanted me to do. "Higher, Charmaine!" My classmates laughed when I raised my arm. I frowned at them and almost all of them were looking at me, including the professor and Lawrence, who was now in front of the class. "Okay, we have a volunteer," the professor cheered, which made the class roar with joy. I slowly put my hand down in disapproval, but it seems like it’s all too late for me. "Come here in front of us, Charmaine," he added. I lost my gaze on the proffesor when Lawrence's eyes and mine met each other. I f*****g hate you for doing this, Kevin!
