Orion was the epitome of a doting older brother today, at my beck and call.
We had an amazing time, pushing thoughts of our impending separation to the back of our minds.
But then the unexpected happened. The amusement park was holding a celebratory event, and the area was packed with people jostling to take pictures.
The crowd pushed Orion and me further and further apart. I wasn't worried, but Orion kept calling out to me. "Aria, find a spot near the edge and stay put. Don't move. I'll come find you."
The crowd was so loud that Orion's voice was probably hoarse from shouting.
I thought he was overreacting. I was a grown woman; I wouldn't get lost. Just then, a mother and her son asked me to help them take some photos.
After a few shots, the mother suggested moving to another spot.
