Theo didn't raise his voice, but the words settled exactly where they were meant to land.
I didn't look at him immediately. My attention stayed on the direction of the disturbance Selene had triggered, not where she stood, not where the power had moved, but beyond that, deeper into the court.
"It was already getting worse," I said, because that was the truth. Selene hadn't started this. She had accelerated it, and there was a difference.
