CHAPTER 9

Selene's POV I didn't sleep properly. Every time I closed my eyes, I felt it again. That presence which made my body stay alert even when I tried to rest. By the time the door opened, I was already awake. I pushed myself up slowly, ignoring the dull pull in my side. It was still there, but manageable now. That alone told me time had passed, even if I couldn't measure how much. Two guards stepped inside. Not the same ones from before. These ones carried themselves differently. Still controlled, still dangerous, but less rigid. One of them, a tall man with dark eyes and a scar cutting through his brow, glanced at me briefly before speaking. "On your feet." His voice wasn't harsh, just direct. I moved before they could repeat it, sliding off the bed carefully.
