I stood where I was, aware of my breathing, aware of my body, and aware of what was no longer happening.
It had faded, but not completely.
Usually, when it stopped, it disappeared without leaving anything behind. My body would reset, forcing everything back into something familiar, something I could at least recognize even if I didn't understand it.
This time, it didn't.
Yesterday, it had slipped through me before I could even recognize it. It had broken apart the moment I noticed it, like my awareness was enough to disrupt it.
I could still feel where it had been, like something had settled there and refused to fully leave.
It wasn't strong enough to take over, but it wasn't weak enough to be dismissed either.
