Selene's POV
The moment Adrian's chamber doors shut behind us, pain tore through my chest so violently that my knees nearly buckled.
I grabbed the nearest table to steady myself, gasping.
Adrian turned instantly. "Selene—"
Another wave slammed into me before he could reach me.
It was not like before.
This felt like something inside me was being yanked apart.
I cried out, clutching my chest as the force twisted deeper, sharper, like invisible claws digging beneath my ribs.
"What is happening?" Adrian demanded.
"I—I don't know—"
The pain surged again.
My scream echoed off the chamber walls.
Adrian caught me before I collapsed completely, his hands gripping my shoulders.

His touch usually calmed it.
