The lights were off when I returned to the Phillips estate. According to the time, it would be better if I had just driven to my parents but I had promised Eugene I will stay at his place tonight. Somehow after emitting my anger at the alley, I passed out in the car with broken windows and woke up to stars and moon instead of the sun as it is this morning.
Up until now, I'm marveling at the luck I had. Only God knows what could have gone wrong if some homeless person had been there while I was unconscious.
My feet were bare when I walk into the penthouse. Eugene was standing on the balcony, studying the midnight sky with a telescope and a cup of wine in his hand.
