Deception

Genesis’ P.O.V I was almost blinded by sunlight, the curtains were drawn. No wonder it was impossible to open my eyes. I lazily did my morning routine and went to the living room, everyone was seated there along with Kris. It was unusual for him to be present as he was the representative of our mafia so he was always gone for some meetings. “How did it go?” I asked. “It went well, we’ll surely ally the annual ball” I had seriously forgotten about the ball but my act of forgetfulness was rightly justified as I didn’t have to do anything special. I didn’t have to prepare a dress and I for sure didn’t have to represent anyone as half of the mafia didn’t even know I existed thanks to my family’s s****m. Sometimes I was extremely grateful as I didn’t have a bounty on my head. Times were to change as I were to officially take over the business next month. We weren’t announcing it in this ball as we had to form a few alliances first. ************************************************************* It felt amazing tying my thigh holster, I can’t even remember the last time I went on a mission like this. Kris was also a part of this mission but I had to play the main part, I had to lure the target in the alley. We had received information that the target was a snake Whoever slashes us with betrayal is parried by our vengeance. No one lives long enough to tell the tale. I adjusted my wig, it was chestnut brown. To finish the look I added some hazel contacts as well. I looked at myself in the mirror, the hazel eyes looked like a melt of autumn tones. Satisfied by my disguise I left my room and met Kris in the living room. He enlightened me about the plan and we left for our destination. The restaurant was full. I looked around at the busy tables. An old couple eating side by side, one glass of wine each, studiously bent over their meals. A group of young women in their thirties collapsing with helpless giggles as a stern woman dining alone nearby looked on and frowned. A family and their teenage children. The noise level was high. The smoke level, too. But it didn’t bother me. I was used to it. It was the perfect place for our plan to take place. No one would pay heed and that’s exactly what we want. Now I just had to play the damsel in distress. I was going to pretend as if my friends ditched me. It was now time to put my plan into action. I sat at a table at the end of the restaurant. This made everything easier as the back exit was near to the alleyway and I could see my target arriving. He sat at a table where I could see his every move, he was currently talking to a man about business. After about 30 minutes I glanced in his direction, the other man had left. I quickly opened my phone and messaged Kris then I pretended as if I was calling someone but they weren’t picking up. As expected I heard a voice beside me, it was the target. “Why is a pretty girl like you sitting here alone all by herself?” This cliche s**t. I wanted to bang his head on the table but I refrained from doing so and continued with my innocent expression. “My friends ditched me, I wonder what I did wrong,” I said, making my voice sound like I was going to cry at any moment. He reached forward and put a hand on my shoulder to calm me down. Anyone with 2 brain cells would realize how sketchy this looked, why would someone cry over getting ditched, especially let a creepy 40-year-old comfort her, I mentally scoffed. “Are you okay?” he asked, his voice full of concern. “I’ll be okay just give me company.“, my voice sounding innocent than ever. We talked for a while and then we ordered some food. I flicked my hand lazily to signal the server should leave; my bling-bling platinum bangles shifting and clinking to exaggerate my dismissal then I returned my arms to their resting position elbows on the well-shined table and manicured nails almost touching my lips. The bangles fell to the soft skin partway down my arm and lay glinting in the afternoon rays, bright against my pale skin. There they would rest until I was done with the imbecile before me. The man was trying too hard, laughing too easily, uncomfortable in a suit that had a new sheen. I, on the other hand, underplayed my part, coy, and a little slow to warm. Let him feel like he’s in charge, that he earned my trust. He was easier to steer than my new Bugatti. I remained girlish, innocent. Beneath my mask of delight and interested in listening I was planning his death and the disposal of his body, in the same manner, most people reserved to write a list of household chores. I switched on my phone’s screen, the display showed the time. It was around 9:30 pm. I quickly excused myself saying that it was getting late. Everything was going according to plan. I took the back door to exit the place and the target followed me. As soon as we left the place he tried to grab me but a hand prevented him from doing so “Not too soon buddy.“, said Kris. “K-Kris, what are you doing here?” The color had drained from his face. This earned a chuckle from me. I faked a yawn, “Let’s quickly get this done with, I’m already bored.” “You!“, he pointed an accusing finger towards me. I gently held his finger and traced over his knuckle. “Let me introduce myself”, I took my wig off and the contacts.” I am Genesis Vercetti, the only heiress to the Vercetti Family.” It wasn’t like he was going to live long enough to tell that Francisco Vercetti had a daughter. He started laughing like a maniac. “What can a little girl like you do?“, his tone was full of amusement as if he wasn’t going to die anytime soon. “Shall I demonstrate?” “Let’s see what you got” In a swift motion, I took his finger and turned it 180 degrees. I wanted to turn it 360 degrees but I didn’t because I knew he’d pass out. “You b***h!” he screamed at the top of his lungs. I rolled my eyes, “Look who’s screaming like a b***h now.” “Well, anyway I’ve wasted enough time on you so I’ll make it quick.” I opened my thigh holster and took the revolver out, I smiled just by looking at it. “You shall feel honored that I’ll be using this.“, I said whilst caressing the grip of the revolver. It’s grip panels were embedded with red beryl. The rest of the body was a strong black, deeply soulful in the way all absolute things are. “This revolver is only used for snakes like you.” I gently grazed the man’s jaw with the barrel of the revolver. He flinched causing me to smirk. I eyed the weapon with the eyes of a hunter framed in the passionless face of an executioner. My hands were steady as they lifted the g*n, I wrapped my finger around the trigger ready to pull it any second. I locked eyes with the figure before me, eyes widened, breaths ragged, and harsh. His hands trembled at his sides. Pathetic. “Fear lives not in the world,” “But within the mind.” “So when fear calls at your door,” “Ask why you are afraid.” “And then you will find,” BANG The noise echoed in the silent night, I had even forgotten to put the silencer. “You should sit in the car, I’ll call someone to clean this up”, said Kris. I absent-mindedly nodded and went towards the car, it was unlocked so I went straight in. I had almost forgotten that Kris was there. I heaved a sigh. It had been one long night. With that, I closed my eyes and drifted into slumber. Unedited.
