Genesis’ P.O.V
The rambunctious blaring of my alarm clock jarred me out of my peaceful slumber and I jolted up, smashing the snooze button as hard as I possibly could. Waking up can be really harsh, especially for someone like me as my dreams are far better than my reality.
The saddest part is that the memory of your dream will fade - if you are lucky enough to remember the dream that is then you’re left with this lonely feeling of detachment, left to explore in the empty void of emotions, the only proof that you had the dream, to begin with.
I rubbed my eyes, trying to remove what was left of my peaceful sleep when I heard the door opening. It was Isabelle, she had a tray in her hand which was filled with my breakfast. I gave her a smile and went to the bathroom. After a quick shower, I came back to my room to find Isabelle tying a g*n holster to her thigh. That meant only one thing, I was running late so I quickly started eating my breakfast. Whilst sipping my coffee I heard my phone ringing. Without checking the caller ID I pressed the answer button.
“Hello”, I spoke.
“Genesis”, the voice on the phone replied.
I almost choked on my coffee, this received a worried expression from Isabelle. The voice... I remembered it vividly like it was yesterday. The voice belonged to none other than Xavier Dwight, my childhood best friend. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I was astounded. A lot of questions were going through my head. Most importantly why now after all those years.
“Hey Gen, you there?“, a very worried Xavier asked me over the phone.
“Yes.“, I replied quickly.
“How have you been?“, he asked hesitantly.
“I’ve been perfectly fine, what about you?“, I inquired.
“I’ve been doing great”, he replied.
After talking for a while we hung up.
“Who was it?“, asked Isabelle “It appeared as if you saw a ghost”
“It was Xavier”, I replied simply.
Her jaw dropped, her expression mirrored mine when I heard his voice after 5 years.
