Present day I snapped back into reality when my mom came into the room asking if I could put up Alyssa's curtains. “Sure, where are they at?” I ask. my mom hands me a box, she says the bed set and curtains are in it. I set them on the floor. We begin to make her bed first. When I get to the curtains I notice there is no rod. I yell for Mom and tell her we have to go out to get a rod for the curtains. “I can't leave right now, I'm a little busy. “ so I begin looking for my dad. Allen is married to my mom, he may not be my biological father, but he's the closest to one I've had. I open the door to see him unboxing his tools. “Hey Dad, think we could run to a*****e to get some curtain rods for Alyssa’s room?” he takes a minute to process my question as he puts his wrench in his tool bag. “Yeah. I guess we could go ahead and get that out of the way.” I go inside to head for the bathroom. I put my hair up in a messy bun and slide into a hoodie. I look like I just rolled out of bed. I go slip some shoes on and get in the car. The car ride is quiet. My dad and I don't talk much. I think that's best to maintain peace between us. My attitude can get out of hand sometimes, and he gets a little sensitive. Whatever conversations we do have, we keep it sweet, short, and to the point. “Do you have the measurements for the rod?” “I do” When we pull into the parking lot he hands me some money and tells me not to be too long. When I walk inside I realize I have no idea where the rods would be. I'll be fine, I don't need help. I'll find the curtain rod. I go to the bedding section hoping to find anything related to curtains. Because why wouldn't curtains be in the bedding section? Curtains go in a bedroom…
