HAILEY
I am in a daze because I am finally leaving this group; I will never again be despised, mistreated, abandoned, or forsaken. It feels so unbelievable and unreal, and even though I'm In the Cidar pack, however, nothing ever remained straightforward for very long. I went to the kitchen to get a drink of water because I was thirsty. It was hard to leave Ryan because he was always staring at me, but he was talking to his beta, so I slipped away while it seemed like a good idea, but now that it's too quiet, it's starting to seem like a bad idea. I shuddered uncontrollably as soon as I felt Thomas before he even spoke. "Hailey," he murmured fluidly as he moved into my line of sight. With my heart pounding, I froze.
My heart beats unsteadily, and my palms sweat profusely. "Pardon me, Alpha Thomas," I said, maintaining a steady tone. He remained still. Rather, he leaned forward, a smile twisting his lips. "Little Omega, you've been making quite a fuss. The Alpha King has had his sights set on you. After he learns the reality, do you think he would be able to handle a maid without a wolf? My breath caught. "I have no idea what you're discussing." "Don't be evasive," he whispered, reaching out to seize my wrist. His fingers dug into my flesh with a tight grip. "You have consistently been an annoyance. Perhaps I should remind you of where you are. I felt a wave of panic, but before I could respond, a shadow appeared behind him. Logan snarled, his voice low, "Let her go."Logan's voice was low and threatening as he hissed. Thomas turned, but he held me in place. "Beta Logan, you're not worried about this." With a steely tone, Logan stated, "It does now." Logan quickly yanked Thomas's hand away from me and pushed him away. As the two men faced off, the tray in my hands clattered to the ground. Logan's hands clenched as he shouted, "You're out of line." Thomas scowled and wiped blood from his lip where Logan had punched him earlier, saying, "And you're overstepping." Logan denied him the opportunity to go on. Thomas was sent reeling after his punch made a vicious arcing contact with his jaw. Logan's strength and accuracy overpowered Thomas in the brief but vicious battle. When it was over, Thomas was lying on the floor Moaning and bleeding. Logan spat, "If you touch her again, I'll make sure you can't leave the next time." He is bowing to me. "Let's go, Luna Queen; what was it you wanted?" I mumble "I'm thirsty" He laughs, "It's okay. As we leave, you will be given a bottle of sparkling water. It's yours; let me know if you need anything. As we departed from the Cedar pack, I sat quietly in the backseat of the vehicle. My chest still held the strain from the morning's events, but relief was starting to replace it. I was heading out. With her palm resting lightly on mine in silent sympathy, Flora sat next to me. "I'm delighted you're coming with me," I muttered. She gave a quiet smile. "Me too." When the car abruptly halted, I looked up to see Ryan standing outside with an enigmatic expression on his face. "Logan," Ryan stated in a strong tone. Change vehicles. Flora and you will ride in the second car. Flora scowled. "But—" "No buts," Ryan remarked sternly. With a groan, Logan nodded and got out of the car. After a moment of hesitation, Flora squeezed my hand and followed him. I tightened my chest as I glanced at Ryan. "Why did you do that?" He slid into the seat next to me and said simply, "Because we need to talk." Although there was quietness during the car ride, it was anything but tranquil. The room was filled with Ryan, and his closeness made me uneasy. I looked at him, curiosity and trepidation at odds. "Why are you doing this?” At last, I enquired. "What are you doing?" With a voice that was hardly audible above a whisper, I murmured, "Taking me with you." His penetrating gaze was fixed on me. "Because you belong to me." "I'm not yours; the bond makes you feel like that but it's just a bond you can reject me". He doesn't respond at first, and it's quiet, so I assume he doesn't hear me, but then he looms over me and lifts my chin. Little Spitfire, pay attention. Although you believe it's common for mates to reject one another, I would never reject you. I am aware that Thomas was your fated mate and that he rejected you; I am your second-chance mate. I've been looking for you for so long, but there's no chance I'm letting you go. You are mine until death do us part, and if there is a hereafter, you will still be mine. There is no getting around me." As I try to break away from him, he pulls me in close and puts his tongue on my lips. I'm too stunned to react at first, but then I'm lost in his kiss. I try to exhale since my sensations are all over the place. After our shared kiss, I feel lightheaded and unstable, and he consumes me for what seems like days. The packhouse we reached was enormous, expansive, and teeming with energy—unlike anything I had ever seen. Here, the air felt different, lighter but more energetic. Ryan motioned me to come along with him, and I did, my legs wobbly as I absorbed the new environment. “This is your home now,” he said steadily, and I nodded, not knowing what else to do. A knock on the door sounded as I was getting comfortable in the room they had set up for me, so I called softly, and Ryan entered with a serious expression, closing the door behind him and filling the room with his presence. “There’s something you need to know,” he said, his voice low, and I asked, my heart racing. His next words sent a chill down my spine: “Thomas and Marissa weren’t just cruel; there's proof that they were responsible for the deaths of your parents”
