The family curse

Chapter Two- Start protecting

Third grade was fun and having a girl in the neighborhood was incredible. They had a pool in their backyard and her parents let her go over as long as an the older kids were there or if the dad was home. Which he was usually gone but the neighbor has two older siblings a boy and a girl. The girl being the oldest did like being around but would always be on the phone so I was easier if she stayed there to talk long distance. See they moved from far far away because their mother passed away from cancer. Since then the father moved his kids away from everything that reminded him of his late wife. The boy was in Gabe's grade and after a month he noticed the boy was a bully. He would be mean all the time no matter how nice someone else would be. But Makayla was excited just to have a friend live close to them. 

 As the year went on they tried to play with them and things got weird. They would try to play spin the bottle but you would not kiss a family member. I mean 8 years old and she thought kissing was gross. The kids went home but never told their parents about it. They just didn't understand that it was bad for kids to have interest in those kinds of things. The holidays came and they were surrounded by family. It was the best of times. Then spring came and all the snow melted. The season were changing to rapidly and it felt like summer already. So now all kids were in shorts and playing outside more amd more. Everyone is enjoying having sun kissed skin and bare feet. No one though kids would act grown.

One day getting off the bus the neighbors decided they didn't want to wait and the bus driver just let them off. The two girls ran home because they were hungry and wanted to watch their television show. They usually miss the first 10 minutes. Our stop is at our driveway so we didn't have a long way to walk. Well Gabe had to go to the bathroom and he disappeared inside. Hannah and Makayla were running around until the neighbor boy tried to pull Hannah's shirt down. Makayla yelled for Hannah to go inside as she kicked the boy. She told him never to touch her younger sister again and he just smirked thinking he had a new toy to play with. Then Gabe came outside saying Hannah was scared and the boy ran home across the street. 

Makayla protected her sister without even realizing it. The next week came and the neighbor boy tried to touch Hannah again but Makayla said "Never touch her, I don't care what you do just don't touch her." This was her first time putting herself in danger to save someone she loves. Makayla slowly stopped going over to the neighbors because the touching just got worse when she was there. Over the ending of the year the dad's had met at school when the kids were having conferences. The neighbor dad said "Your daughter is a tease. Don't blame my son. Teach your daughter better." Mr. Heart was furious with those words being said. He screamed "Maybe you should be a father and teach your boy that touching a girl is wrong." The whole hallway full of children and parents heard what was going on. The principal came and asked what was going on. Everyone was upset and talking but no one asked Makayla Joy Heart what was happening to her. The principal said he would reach out to both parents and settle the issue himself. 

A week before the end of school and the boy rips her shirt at recess. She went home crying and ran straight into the house not caring that Gabe actually had to watch Hannah for once. When their mother got home an hour later they tried to call the cops and they called the principal. The principal said "Whatever happens to your daughter on school grounds is non of your concern." The cops said "There's only a few days left. Just tell her not to provoke him." Her parents were angry that they wouldn't do anything. That summer if the neighbor girl wanted to play should would have to come over. Makayla was no longer allowed over at her friends place due to no parents around and no one making sure nothing bad happens. 

The summer was slow but were hard when all parents were gone at work. At least one neighbor was an elderly couple and would watch out the kids when coming over to play with there garden. Their son was also marrying her aunt so in a way they're family but not fully. They loved watching the girls because Gabe would hang out with the boys down in the block. He had 2 different places he could go to hang out. The girls had their home or the elderly couples. Not much but they would make dances, sing songs and play dress up every chance they got. 

The next school year started and the first week was incredible. Makayla met a few new kids and became their friend immediately. She enjoyed having more friends and playing games during lunch break. On the bus the next week Makayla asked the bus driver to only let off them at the stop. But the neighbor kids would complain to the driver that they had to use the bathroom. So she let them off and the touching starting up again. Hannah knew to go straight inside the house. Gabe usually ran in and then to his friends place. Makayla would get the dog and bring her out and mister Bell would walk with them. The neighbor boy wouldn't touch her if Bell was around because Bell scratched him good when he tried to pull on Makayla pants the last time he tried. His scar will forever be there to remind him that he failed and he needs to grow stronger if he is to get what he wants. 

Close the end of the quarter of school Makayla's parents decided to take her and Gabe out of public school and home school them for the rest of the year. Gabe is getting picked on by a teacher/football coach, as well as the neighbor boy trying to prank him in all classes they share. Makayla is still being harassed by the neighbor boy. The school won't do a thing about it because they see no harm done. But the boy has stayed away from Hannah so her parents kept her in school due to the fact that she is two grades younger then her sister. She wont see the boy unless its on the bus but Hannah will be sitting up front and the boy in the back. The bus company has been yelled at and told only to allow Hannah off at our driveway. If otherwise the elderly company will be watching when the bus comes to make sure everything is ok. 

They start home schooling at the same time their sister starts school. Even though they are home they study all day. Asking to go to the library so they can have a family day yet learn together. Mr. Heart is in charge of teaching the two history and mathematics, and Mrs. Heart in charge of English and science. Extra classes they both did with their children. During this time they also kept going to church and it made all three kids decide to be baptized. Hannah went first amd being the youngest she was truly innocent. Makayla next a day after she turned 10. She felt anew given the last couple years shes had to deal with the neighbor boy. Gabe decided he was ready at church camp. There uncle was there and got to be there for it as it was camp and no visitors were allowed. It was exhilarating to feel safe and free if only camp was only 5 days long. Back to reality they didn't know what was happening when they were having fun at camp.
