The Obagato family quickly became good friends with the Radcliffs and us Tranters. Derrick Obagato was a year older than Charlotte, and Dwight was a year older than Jay-Jay. They went to different elementary schools so when they had the opportunity to get to see each other the four of them loved playing together, in our old barn and backfield, as well as in the bush and around the pond at the new home of the Obagatos.
Amieann was the star of the girls’ basketball team throughout her high school days. The team finished first in our local league every year and advanced to the regional finals the third year, losing in the semi-finals by five points. In Amieann’s senior year the team won the regionals but was not competitive against the state’s other champions. Amieann earned a full-ride
