Avyana Celestine Adelinda POV The human was still shouting while he was hugging me. I heard the loud footsteps of the solum monstrum or the soil monster, it was heading towards us. I have to stop him before we get killed by the monster. “Shh, stop shouting. That won’t help you,” I whispered to him. Luckily, he stopped but he was still hugging me tightly. It felt so awkward and weird. There was this kind of feeling that I haven’t experienced before. It is maybe because he was a man and I am a woman. Even if I am a witch, I still have the same heart just like humans have. I wanted to push this human but I couldn’t. Saving him was not really my plan but…. here I am. “Don’t make any noises or else the monsters will come and eat you,” I whispered again. The human nodded his head at me but his hugs became tighter, I couldn’t breathe properly. He was so scared that the monster was so near to us. The monster was just meters away. The monster suddenly stopped. I have to make it leave before I lose myself from this human’s hugs. My left hand was on the ground and my right hand was holding the wand. I have to make a spell but I couldn’t because of him. I took a deep breath. “Why isn’t it moving? Do..don’t you ha..have any wa..ways to make it leave?” he was stuttering. ‘I am the woman here; I should be the one that is being protected not me protecting you!’ I exclaimed in my mind. However, I cannot say that to him. The monster suddenly moved and it got closer to us. “Shut your mouth if you still want to eat chocolates at the human’s town,” I whispered to him. He demonstrated that he was zipping his mouth, after that he nodded at me. The man put his head on my cleavage with his hands around me. I rolled my eyes at him. ‘Ugh, this is difficult. I should just let him stay here,’ I said in my mind. I took a deep breath again. As time goes by, it was quite difficult for me to cast a spell. I want to push him far from me but I couldn’t. “Permāgnus cornīxus,” I whispered to myself, hoping that he didn’t hear me. From the tip of my wand, a big and dark crow was born. It was my spell and it would take a lot of time to make it perish. It has big wings, and as the crow flew, it manipulated the wind. The wind was so cold yet it was so fascinating, I couldn’t wish for more of this power that I have. I smiled as I looked at the crow. Even if it made my hair moved, and made the man hugged me tightly. I just couldn’t help but be proud of myself. The soil monster moved as it stared at my crow. The crow flew away. At a far distance, it made a loud sound, the soil monster followed the sound as it walked away from us, making it harmless. Minutes had passed, and the man was still on top of me even though the monster has already left. “Hey, move away from me, or else I’ll push you harder,” I said, threatening him just to make him leave me. However, the man didn’t move. He was still on top of me no matter how much I push him. “Incendere ignis,” I said to light up my wand. I moved my wand closer to his face. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was normal. His heartbeat was beating normal too, it tempted me on taking his heart. I hated the fact that he made my cleavage his pillow. I clenched my fist as the anger enveloped me. “Don’t sleep on my cleavage!” I exclaimed and I pushed him hard that made him land on a branch of a tree in front of me. The human groaned in pain and he fell to the ground. He groaned again. I felt my conscience rising. I feel so worried about him. My great-grandmother has told me that human bodies are so vulnerable and it takes time to heal their broken bones and wounds. I bit my lower lip. I immediately stood up and I went closer to him. I slapped his face twice gently, hoping that he was still alive. “Hey, wake up, human. Don’t die yet, you can’t die inside the dark forest,” I said. I was hoping that he heard me. I held my wand closer to his face to see if he was still alright. I can’t afford to let this human die. I don’t want the same thing to happen again. I don’t want the humans to come here and threaten us that they will burn the forest. I clenched my fist. The human opened his eyes, he stared into mine. “I feel…I feel so tired. I…want to rest,” he said and he passed out. I slapped his face again but it didn’t work. I thought if I slap him again, his soul would bring back to life but it didn’t work. I guess he’s dead. I shook my head; I can’t just give up now. I need to try on bringing him back to life if that’s only the solution. I took a deep breath first while I was closing my eyes. I looked at him. I slapped him as hard as I could. It made his left cheek red but still, he didn’t wake up. “I guess I have to give you a very pretty funeral first before sending you back to the human’s town. I am hoping that they will not come here and threaten us again.”
