Rogue King (Elias) POV
The woman the Moon-Born had bound to me proved to be exactly what I needed—pliant, eager to please, and far too blinded by her own desires to question anything I did. There was something almost amusing about the way she clung to the bond, as though it meant more to her than it ever could to me.
By the time we were done, she was still trying to steady her breathing, her body betraying how deeply she had been affected, while I remained composed, already moving on, already thinking ahead.
She was nothing more than a means to an end.
I adjusted my sleeves as I returned to my chair, my movements unhurried, controlled, while she lingered where she was, still catching her breath, her gaze occasionally flickering toward me as though seeking approval.
It meant nothing.
“So,” I began, leaning back slightly, my eyes settling on her with a faint, calculating smile, “tell me… what brings you here?”
Her expression shifted at that, the haze around her clearing as purpose returned, and she straightened, trying to regain composure.
“I heard you came to my pack because of Desiree,” she said carefully.
That caught my full attention.
Of course she knew.
If she was from that pack, it was only natural.
A slow smile spread across my lips, darker this time, more deliberate. “Yes,” I replied, my tone calm but edged with interest. “Do you know her?”
Her lips curled slightly, not into a smile, but into something bitter.
“I heard everything that happened between you two,” she said, her voice tightening as emotion crept in. “And I came to bargain.”
There it was.
I had been right.
She was useful.
“I am listening,” I said, my gaze sharpening, giving her just enough attention to encourage her to continue.
She shifted slightly, her fingers brushing against her clothing as though grounding herself before speaking again. “My mother has been controlling the pack for years,” she began, her tone laced with frustration, “but everything changed after Desiree came. Since she became mated to Alpha Brandon, she has been… difficult.”
I already knew who her mother was.
Knew the role she played.
Knew how useful she had been in feeding me information.
Which made this even more interesting.
“I heard you challenged her,” I said casually, watching her reaction closely.
Her jaw tightened immediately.
“I did,” she admitted, though there was bitterness in her voice now, sharp and unfiltered. “I thought it would be easy. She had no real experience, no proper training… but she—” She stopped herself, her frustration evident as she looked away briefly. “Her strength is unnatural. Wolfbane had no effect on her.”
That made me pause.
Wolfbane had no effect on her?
My mind immediately began piecing things together, questions forming rapidly.
Why had her mother not told me that?
What else had been kept from me?
A slow realization settled in, and with it came a dangerous kind of excitement.
If wolfbane did not affect her…
Then silver likely would not either.
A quiet chuckle left me, low and satisfied, as the possibilities unfolded in my mind.
The power she held was even greater than I had anticipated.
“So,” I said, leaning forward slightly, my interest fully captured now, “what exactly are you offering?”
Her eyes met mine again, and this time, there was no hesitation.
“I want her gone,” she said bluntly. “I can bring her to you. Just make sure I never see her again.”
For a brief moment, I simply watched her.
Not because I was surprised.
But because I found it amusing.
She had no idea who Desiree truly was.
No understanding of the magnitude of what she was offering.
If capturing her had been that simple, I would have done it already.
Still…This could work.
“Is she your friend?” I asked lightly, though the question carried weight.
Her reaction was immediate. “Never,” she snapped, her voice rising with anger. “I would never be friends with that… thing. Three mates already, and then you—”
Her words dripped with jealousy, with resentment so deep it almost made her reckless.
It was almost laughable.
She spoke of mates, of bonds, as though they mattered.
As though any of it mattered.
“She rejected me,” I said calmly, watching her closely. “And you seem to forget… you are my mate.”
I wanted to see it.
Her reaction.
Whether the bond meant anything to her beyond what she could gain.
It didn’t take long.
Her expression twisted, not with longing or confusion—but with annoyance.
“You cannot give me what I want,” she said quickly, almost dismissively. “I want Alpha Brandon. I want to be Luna.”
There it was.
Foolish ambition
I leaned back slightly, studying her as though seeing her for the first time.
“You believe he can give you something I cannot?” I asked, my voice calm, almost curious.
She hesitated for only a second before answering, her eyes lighting with desire—not for me, but for power.
“I want the Luna title,” she said. “I want that power.”
A slow smile spread across my lips.
Perfect.
She wanted power.
And I wanted control.
We could both have what we wanted.
For now.
“You will get what you desire,” I said smoothly, my tone reassuring, convincing. “Bring Desiree to me… and you will never see her again.”
Her eyes lit up at that, satisfaction flickering across her face as she nodded quickly.
“Good,” she said, already turning toward the door. “I should leave before they notice I am gone.”
I watched her walk away, my expression unreadable, my mind already several steps ahead.
She truly believed she was gaining something, that she would become Luna and that she would stand beside Brandon.
A quiet scoff left me.
She would serve her purpose and when she no longer did, I would discard her like everything else.
The door closed behind her, and silence filled the room once more.
Then, Zelda reappeared as always without warning or sound.
I did not even turn to look at her. “You know,” I said flatly, my patience already thinning again, “there is something called a door.”
Her soft laughter echoed behind me, but I paid it no mind, my thoughts already consumed by what was to come.
“You slept with her, you know she paired you up by mistake, she doesn't know how to control something she never realise she has” she barked into my ears.
“Are you jealous, I am enough for everyone” I furrowed.
“Your doom is near if you aren't careful” she warned.
I move to silent her but she was to quick as she disappeared again.
