Desiree POV My heart was still pounding from my encounter with Elder Maeve when I reached the large wooden doors leading to my mates’ chamber. For a moment, I hesitated. Just a few days ago, I had been a stranger in this pack. Now three powerful men were waiting behind that door… men who called me their mate. I exhaled slowly and pushed the door open. The moment I stepped inside, three pairs of eyes snapped toward me. Brandon stood near the window, his arms crossed over his broad chest, his expression dark and thoughtful. Grayson lounged lazily against the table, spinning a dagger between his fingers like he had all the time in the world. Zachary stood beside the bed, his warm eyes immediately softening when they landed on me. For a few seconds, none of them spoke. But the air between us felt charged. Heavy. The mate bond hummed softly “You’re late,” Grayson said casually, though his eyes were carefully scanning me from head to toe. “I had an unexpected visitor,” I replied. Brandon straightened instantly. “Maeve,” he guessed. I nodded. Zachary frowned deeply. “What did she want?” “To bribe me,” I said simply. Grayson’s dagger stopped spinning. “Oh?” “She offered me treasure to leave the pack tonight.” The room went very still. “And?” Brandon asked quietly. I raised an eyebrow at him. “You really need to ask?” A slow smile spread across his face. “No.” Grayson chuckled. “That old witch must be desperate.” Zachary looked far less amused. “She knows Celine might lose.” “No,” I corrected softly. “She knows Celine will lose.” Grayson grinned like a proud teacher. “That’s my girl.” Brandon walked toward me slowly, his gaze intense. “You shouldn’t underestimate Celine.” “I’m not.” He stopped in front of me, studying my face carefully. “Then why do you look so calm?” Because strangely… I was. The fear I expected to feel wasn’t there. Instead, something else stirred inside me. “I’m done running,” I said quietly. For a moment, none of them spoke. Then Grayson clapped his hands once. “Well then,” he said cheerfully, “training starts now.” Zachary blinked. “Now?” Grayson raised an eyebrow. “You think Celine is sleeping tonight?” Brandon sighed but nodded. “He’s right.” He turned toward me. “The arena is empty at night. We can train without distractions.” My pulse quickened. This was really happening. “Come on, little wolf,” Grayson said, already heading for the door. “Let’s see what you’re made of.” The training arena was silent when we arrived, moonlight poured through the open roof, bathing the sand-covered ground in silver light. The place felt eerie at night… like a battlefield waiting for blood. Grayson stepped into the center of the arena and tossed his dagger aside. “Alright,” he said, cracking his knuckles. “Show me what you can do.” I frowned. “That’s it?” “That’s it.” Brandon leaned against the arena wall, watching carefully. “Attack him.” I stared at them. “You’re serious?” Grayson grinned. “Very.” Zachary folded his arms. “Don’t hold back.” My wolf stirred eagerly. Fine. If they wanted a fight, they would get it, I rushed forward to attack but Grayson didn’t even move. At the last second, I swung my fist toward his jaw, he caught my wrist effortlessly. Before I could react, my feet were swept out from under me. I hit the sand hard as air rushed out of my lungs. Grayson crouched beside me. “Too slow.” I glared up at him. “That was one move.” “Exactly.” He offered me a hand. I slapped it away and stood up myself. Behind him, Zachary tried—and failed—to hide a smile. “Again,” Grayson said. This time I attacked faster. Left punch. Right kick. He blocked everything effortlessly. Within seconds, I was back on the ground. My chest rose and fell as I tried to catch my breath. Frustration burned in my chest. “I hate you,” I muttered. Grayson laughed. “You’ll hate Celine more tomorrow.” Brandon stepped forward this time. “Enough playing.” Grayson stepped aside. Brandon faced me, his expression serious. “Celine will attack your emotions first,” he said. “What do you mean?” I asked confused “She’ll provoke you.” His eyes softened slightly. “She knows anger makes people sloppy.” Zachary added quietly, “And sloppy fighters lose.” I clenched my fists. “So what do I do?” Grayson’s voice came from behind me. “You stop thinking.” Before I could turn—He attacked. I barely managed to dodge. Adrenaline shot through my veins. Grayson struck again. And again. I blocked one hit but missed another. My heart pounded wildly. The world around me blurred. All I could see…Was movement. My instincts kicked in immediately, my wolf growled inside me. Suddenly, something shifted. Everything slowed. Grayson lunged again—But this time, I was ready. I moved first. My body reacted before my mind could, I twisted his arm and threw him onto the sand. Hard. The entire arena went silent. Grayson blinked up at me from the ground. Zachary’s mouth fell open. Even Brandon looked stunned. I stared down at my hands in disbelief. “I… didn’t mean to—” Grayson suddenly started laughing loudly. “Oh this is going to be fun.” Brandon walked closer slowly, his eyes locked on me with something that looked like awe. “That move…” he murmured. Zachary looked equally shocked. “That’s an advanced warrior technique.” I frowned. “What do you mean by advance, I’ve never learned it, this is even my first time training” The three men exchanged a look. A strange one. Grayson stood up slowly. “Well,” he said thoughtfully. “That’s interesting.” A cold shiver ran down my spine. “Why?” Brandon’s voice turned serious. “Because only trained Alphas know that move.” My stomach dropped. “But I’ve never—” Suddenly, a loud howl echoed from the forest beyond the arena. We looked around and saw that we were surrounded not just by one wolf but by dozens of them. The sound was chilling. Dangerous. Grayson’s playful expression vanished instantly. “Rogues,” he muttered. Brandon’s eyes turned deadly. Zachary’s voice dropped to a whisper. “They’re already here.” Then another howl echoed but closer this time. And suddenly…
