Rogue King (Elias) POV I did not remember the journey back, only the anger. It burned through me like wildfire, raw and uncontrollable, consuming every rational thought until all that remained was the echo of her voice in my head. I… reject you. The words struck again and again. My fists clenched at my sides as I pushed through the doors of my territory, the guards stepping aside instantly, their heads lowered, none daring to meet my gaze as the fury rolling off me filled the entire hall. She dared to reject me without even knowing me, without understanding what I could offer her, what I was willing to give her. A sharp breath left me as I ran a hand through my hair, trying to steady the chaos inside me, but it only worsened when the image of her surfaced again, the way she stood between them, the way she looked at them. Jealousy clawed through my chest, sudden and violent, tightening around my heart until it felt unbearable. She was supposed to look at me like that. She was supposed to stand beside me. Her power, her strength, everything about her was meant to be mine. I shoved the doors to my office open harder than necessary, the wood slamming against the wall with a loud crack that echoed through the room. Zelda was already there. She was standing in the dim light, her dark orb glowing faintly in her palm, her lips curling into a slow, knowing smile as her eyes lifted to meet mine. She had seen everything. Every moment. Every humiliation. Her mocking chuckle came first. It snapped the last thread of my restraint. “Do not mock me,” I growled, my voice low and dangerous as I stepped closer. “If you have nothing useful to say, then stay silent.” She only tilted her head slightly, amused, as though my anger entertained her. “You went there unprepared,” she said calmly. “What did you expect?” “I refused her rejection,” I snapped immediately, cutting her off before she could continue. “You saw it.” Her brows lifted slightly at that, though the smirk never left her face. “Did you feel it?” she asked instead. The question caught me off guard. I stilled for a moment before placing my hand against my chest, focusing, searching for that pull that had once been undeniable. Nothing. There was nothing. A flicker of unease passed through me, but I crushed it instantly. “That does not mean anything,” I said quickly, my tone sharper now, defensive. Zelda’s expression shifted slightly, something darker flickering in her eyes as she crossed her arms. “You should have listened to me,” she said. “I told you to plan properly, but you were too impatient.” My irritation flared again. “Speak clearly,” I snapped. “I do not have time for your riddles.” “She rejected you,” Zelda said simply. “I told you I refused it,” I shot back, my frustration rising again. “The bond should still exist.” Zelda sighed softly, as though explaining something obvious to a child. “You still do not understand,” she said, her voice calmer now, but heavier. “One of her powers is the ability to bind wolves to their mates… and to unbind them.” The words hit harder than anything else. For a moment, I said nothing. “She is the creator of bonds,” Zelda continued, watching my reaction closely. Something inside me shattered. My hand dropped slowly from my chest as the realization sank in, cold and brutal. She did not just reject me, she erased me. “What?” The word came out low, almost strangled, disbelief laced heavily within it. “Why did you not tell me this?” “You did not ask,” she replied with a careless shrug, as though the information meant nothing. Rage surged through me instantly. “You knew,” I growled, stepping closer, my voice dropping dangerously. “You knew this would happen.” Zelda did not flinch. “From what I saw,” she added calmly, completely ignoring my accusation, “she has already paired you with someone else.” For a moment, the world went silent. “Who?” I demanded, my voice rising sharply as anger took over again. “Who is it?” The thought alone was unbearable, that she could pair me up with someone else. I refused it. “You are useless,” I snapped, my patience gone completely. “I saved you to be of use to me, not to ruin everything.” Zelda only smiled faintly, completely unfazed by my outburst. “Your problem is not me,” she said. “It is your impatience.” Before I could respond, her expression shifted slightly, her gaze moving past me as though sensing something. “You have a visitor,” she said calmly. And then, she was gone, vanished into thin air as though she had never been there at all. A curse left my lips as I turned away, running both hands through my hair as I began pacing the room, my thoughts spiraling rapidly. She broke the bond. Fine. Then I would make her bind me again. The powers she holds are the key to me owning everything, from the looks of things, even her mates are not aware of what she is capable of and I will use that to my advantage. The door opened suddenly, pulling me from my thoughts as Caleb stepped in, his expression tense. “There is someone here to see you, she is from Alpha Brandon pack from the way I see it,” he said quickly. I did not turn immediately. “Is it her? Is she the one I seek?” I asked, my voice calm now, controlled. “No,” he replied, shaking his head. My patience snapped again. “Then why is she still alive?” I barked, turning sharply to face him, irritation flashing in my eyes. “Have I surrounded myself with incompetent fools?” Caleb stiffened slightly but held his ground. “She claims she knows how to get you the one you seek,” he said quickly. That stopped me, curiosity replaced anger almost instantly. “Bring her in,” I ordered. Caleb nodded and hurried out, leaving me alone once more. I moved to my seat slowly, settling into it as I leaned back, my fingers tapping lightly against the armrest as I waited, my mind already racing through possibilities. The door opened again, and she walked in. The moment she stepped inside, I felt it. My entire body stilled as something deep within me reacted instantly, something primal, something instinctive that I had not felt since Desiree rejected me, something I needed to feel complete. My eyes locked onto the woman standing before me, my breath catching slightly as the realization slammed into me with full force. “Mate.”The word left my lips at the same time as my wolf’s voice echoed inside my head.
