11. Pups and Sweets

Lindsy POV:

I held on to the last thin line of courage and tried to remain expressionless.

“Lindsy” Henry smiled at me, but I just looked down.

My gaze found Eva’s silk robe and then at Henry’s bare chest, he seemed to have noticed my expression because I did nothing to hide my disappointment.

“Now, Eva, can you please leave? I think we’ve already passed it through before”, Henry gushed at her and she rolled her eyes and stormed out of the office.

I felt like I could cry anytime now, but I could hold it back and swallow whatever I was feeling at that moment.

He didn’t feel anything for me, he was just trying to move on ever since he knew he had to make me the Luna because of my father.

He wanted me to be free just like he was with other women.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were busy, I didn’t want to interrupt anything”, I told him, mentioning Eva and him. “I just wanted to know how it went, you know, the hunting.” I finished and he stood up.

I was still looking down, trying to swallow my pain away.

I heard his footsteps approaching me and he stood up in front of me. I felt his fingers running into my face and it lingered on my chin. He tilted my face up and intently looked at me.

Why does he have to be so handsome?

“Did you think that there was something going on between me and Eva?” he questioned me seriously and I didn’t know what to say.

“I don’t know, you’re almost naked and she was wearing only a robe, it just got me by surprise” I told him and he left my chin.

“Eva has been trying to hook up with me for a very long time now. She never gives up but nothing ever happened between me and her, Lindsy” he explained, and somehow I felt relief, he finished organizing his desk.

“Were you jealous?” he asked me with an amusement in his gaze and I stiffed but he soon chuckled.

“I’m just kidding, let’s go to our room and I can tell you how it went” he said, and I smiled at him, trying to cover my uneasiness.

That she-wolf is still going to give me a bloody headache.

He held my hand and we left his office. When we were there, Henry went for a shower and I changed my clothes.

When he left the bathroom, I was reading a book and Henry sat on the bed. I quickly put the book aside and all my attention was directed to Henry. It seemed he liked it because he gave me a droolworthy smile and I almost jumped on him and kissed him myself.

His hair was messy and he was wearing shorts and no t-shirts showing his strong muscles and abs, it was going to be so hard for me to focus on what he was going to say.

I was gawking at him too much but I couldn’t help it.

“Well, we ran into the forest and…”

“Henry, please, can you put on a t-shirt? You’re distracting me”, I told him honestly and he chuckled, but he did as I said and he sat by my side again. I didn’t know if I was relieved or sad, I wouldn’t get to see his abs or his strong and hard chest anymore.

“We ran into the forest and Hunter could track a deer. Randall and I quickly made our way to Hunter’s direction as all the other wolves were also challenging us to reach the deer first, but you know, we’re stronger and smarter”, he joked, and I laughed.

“Yes, of course you are” I said in reassurance, slightly punching his shoulder and he chuckled.

“We quickly made them lose their track and we found it first. We were about to attack but then another group was too noisy and scared the deer away, but we wouldn’t back up. We ran as fast as we could and Hunter jumped on the deer, trying to slow the deer down. Randall bit the deer's flank and I could bite his neck. Chaos howled in victory after he made sure that the deer was dead. Then all the other wolves approached us and they had their time enjoying a fresh meal”, he stated, and I was in awe.

“It must be so fun to shift and have someone you can always talk to. Thank you, Henry”, I told him and he frowned.

“Why are you thanking me for?”

“Well, what I most missed when I was in the Silver Moon’s Pack House was having those regular talks”, I told him and he stared at me in a way that my heart was melting all over him.

“You can always talk to me anytime and about anything”, he reassured me and I hugged him.

He kissed my forehead.

“Goodnight, Lindsy” he said, and I smiled at him.

“Goodnight, Henry.” I told him before he stood up and made his way to the couch.

We fell asleep and the next day arrived quickly.

I woke up and checked the time. It was 6am and I quickly woke up, got the bed made and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and get dressed.

I made my hair side-braided and wore a regular floral dress. I made sure to pick one that could hide my scars, I didn’t want Henry to get to know about it, at least, not today.

I don’t want him or anyone else to pity me.

I left the bathroom and checked on Henry. I loved to do that every morning.

I approached him and kissed his forehead and he relaxed.

I went down and the Omegas were already in the kitchen.

“Good morning, Luna Lindsy” Odete said, and the other omegas also greeted me.

“Good morning, Odete. Good morning to all of you” I said and they all nodded at me smiling, “I’ll prepare the table for the breakfast”. I told them and they thanked me.

I was so happy here; my heart was fluttering.

I checked on the flowers and there were some near the staircase that were dying.

“Oh no, look at you, let’s take care of you right now” I whispered, and then I heard someone chuckling.

I looked up and Henry was there staring at me and chuckling.

“So, you’re talking to flowers now. I think I was clear when I said that you can talk to me anytime and about anything”, he mocked me and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Good morning to you too, Henry”, I simply told him while I was grabbing the vase, and I made my way to the kitchen, changed the water and got rid of the bad leaves.

I put the vase in its place when I felt strong arms wrapping around me and I felt goosebumps all over my body.

I turned around to face him and Henry had a droolworthy smile on his face. I wrapped my arms around his neck on its own accord.

“Let’s go have breakfast, then” he said, smiling and lifted me, making me giggle, I wrapped my legs around him and it just felt so right and natural.

Henry and I haven’t talked about all those sweet moments we had, but I truly believed it was just him trying to get along with me.

Being an Alpha's Luna, it means that sooner or later we'd have to officialize it in some way.

Henry POV:

I woke up and I saw she was in the bathroom. I pretended I was sleeping and I heard when she left and I heard her footsteps approaching me and suddenly, explosions of electric jolts and tingles on my face when she kissed my forehead.

Could she feel something for me?

I remember how sad she looked when she caught Eva in my office last night. When I asked her if she was jealous, she stiffed.

I also pretended I didn’t notice.

“You’re also pretending that there’s nothing going on between both of you”, Chaos said, and he was so right.

It had been a week since Lindsy got here and she was nothing but kind, caring, sweet and nice to me and all of the wolves.

She acted like she really cared for this pack.

I had to make her my Luna anyway, but I’m glad she was willing to do whatever it takes for the pack members.

How can she be so different from her father?

I decided to get up and prepare myself for today.

It’s my first day as an Alpha, it wouldn’t change much from what I was already doing. But I wanted to do everything right.

When I left the room, I saw Lindsy talking to the flowers. That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen but I decided I’d mock her a little.

I chuckled when I noticed she also got a little irritated, everything about her was drawing me into her.

When she came back, I couldn’t help myself from holding her.

I can’t deny what I was feeling anymore, she turned her small frame to face me and wrapped her arms around my neck.

“Let’s go have breakfast, then” I told her and I lifted her, making her giggle. She wrapped her legs around me on its own accord and Chaos was already wriggling his tail in my mind as I got instantly hard as many thoughts were running into my mind.

When we were there, I heard my cellphone ringing and I frowned.

When I checked on it, it was Alpha Mueller.

Lindsy's expression got instantly blank and I heard her heartbeat racing.

“Hello”. I picked it up.

“Hello, Alpha Henry, congratulations! You’re now officially the Alpha”, Mueller said, and I frowned.

“How did you know that my ceremony was yesterday?” I asked him and he chuckled.

“Lindsy told me, you can check with her” he said, and I frowned.

She didn’t even touch her cellphone yesterday, at least I thought so…or did she?

I glanced at Lindsy but I wouldn’t bother myself with it.

“ OK, thank you, Alpha Mueller”

“I just want to know if it’s possible if we meet” he told me.

“Yes, sure, when?” I asked him.

“How about a week?” he asked me.

“All right but I can’t leave my pack now, you’re invited to come” I told him and I could hear he was smiling.

“Wonderful, I’ll be there with my Beta” he said and hung up.

He’ll come with his Beta?

What about Lindsy’s family? Her mother and her brother?

Mueller didn’t even seem to be bothered by that, it was always just business with him.

I was feeling confident about Lindsy and me, but with this call, I got uneased again.

“Stop it, Henry. Don’t let others get into your mind”, Chaos said.

“It’s exactly the opposite”, I told him.

“Don’t make a fool of yourself, Henry. You’re letting people get into your mind when you start to act based on what they are saying and not based on what you’re feeling”, Chaos told me, and I put him in the back of my mind.

“Your father, he said that he'd be coming in a week”, I told her and she frowned, but soon she relaxed.

“So I’ll be seeing my mom and my brother?” she asked me, arching her eyebrows.

“I’m sorry, Lindsy. He said he'd be coming with his Beta”, I told her, and she looked down again.

“I see” she told me.

We ate in silent and I went to my office to have some things checked before we left to drive to the city.

I couldn’t deny that Lindsy was doing a very good job and the pack members seemed to have grown fond of her, a lot.

Lindsy always made sure to join the wolves in whatever they were doing and worked hard on everything.

“Can we go to school later? I promised some pups I would help with their homework; some moms work until late and they stay at school studying and waiting for their parents”, she told me, and I was impressed.

I didn’t know that she could care that much.

“We will, don’t worry” I assured her, winking at her.

When we were driving to school, Lindsy saw the grocery store and asked me to stop.

She got inside and left with a lot of bags. I frowned but I didn’t ask.

When we got there, the pups already gave a huge welcome by almost jumping on Lindsy.

I chuckled.

Lindsy helped them with their homework and after they finished, she asked them to wait.

She went into the car and grabbed the bags and she dumped everything inside the bag on a table.

“It’s all for you, pups” she gushed, and they hopped on her and all the candies went out pretty quickly.

“Thank you, Luna Lindsy. You’re the best ever” a pup said, in a loud voice.

“I love this candy” another pup said.

“Today is the best day of my life”

“Alpha Henry, thank you”

“Oh, it’s all your Luna’s doing”, I told them, smiling.

I glanced at Lindsy and she was laughing over the pups' reaction.

Her gaze found mine.

“Pups do love candies, never forget about it when we have our own” she said, smiling, and went to join the pups.

My heart raced, she said it so naturally, maybe she was taken over by the moment. I don’t know.

Did she know that she was my mate or could she feel the pull towards me?

Ever since everybody has known that we can only have pups with our fated one.

Chaos just shook his snout at me.

"I hope it won't be too late when you decide to listen to me", Chaos mumbled.

I shook off those thoughts and I decided to join them.
