16. Love and Care

Henry POV:

It had been a week since Lindsy was unconscious and I was getting desperate.

I called Randall the next day. I took Lindsy to the pack's hospital and he explained to me everything that happened that day.

The Royal Pack hadn't locked Mueller yet, but some guards were stalking him waiting for the right moment to lock him up.

They did go to the Silver Moon pack to question Mueller, though.

I sent Randall all the necessary evidence against Mueller.

They were all waiting for Lindsy to wake up, and so was I.

Mueller didn’t do anything against Liliane and Leon and he also said that he didn’t know what his Beta was after when he was questioned.

It made my blood boil, he’s the one who planned it all and still he tried to blame his now dead Beta.

Furthermore, nobody asked much because we already had evidence. I just wanted Lindsy to wake up so she could see her father going to the dungeon.

I stayed with her all day, the bites were almost healed, the bruises were gone and her face was flushed.

I was holding her hand when I felt her slightly moving her fingers.

I stared at her face and I saw she was moving her head and her eyes slowly opened.

My heart swelled seeing her mesmerizing green eyes again.

“Lindsy” I whispered, staring at her face, running my fingers on her silk face.

She glanced at me after a few seconds.

“Henry” she whispered.

I kissed her forehead and cupped her face.

I had so much to tell her, to apologize and make it up to her, but I just mind-linked Crystal and she made her way quickly to the Luna's room. She checked on Lindsy as soon as she came in.

“Hello, my darling. How do you feel?” Crystal asked her.

“Huh…awake?” she said with a frowning face, making both Crystal and I chuckle.

“Are you feeling any pain at all?” she asked.

“No physical pain at all” she replied, and I looked down. Of course, the pain she felt was because of what I did to her.

“Great, the nurses will come to help you sit” the doctor said, but Lindsy protested.

“No need, I can do it myself” she said, and I helped her. She looked intently at me and the confusion was clear on her face.

I didn't see any hesitancy, but she looked somehow scared, so I just helped her to sit on the edge of the bed.

Crystal smiled and checked on her vital signs and she left.

Then Lindsy was looking intently at me like she was in pain.

“Lindsy, please, forgiv…”

“Why are you here? I thought you were mad at me, are you here to reject me?” She cut me, she started to sob and my heart clenched painfully in my chest. I hugged her crying small frame in my arms.

“Of course not. Please, forgive me for everything, forgive me for saying such a thing in a moment out of rage. I was scared and lost. I will never reject you, there’s so much I wanted to say to you, but I promised Chaos I’d shift so he can be with you. What do you think about that?” I asked her and her eyes were glistening in happiness and she nodded dramatically.

I had told Chaos that I’d shift before she woke up but I just needed to make sure she was all right and I needed to see how enraged she was with me.

I took my clothes off quickly and shifted.

“Chaos” she whispered.

Lindsy POV:

“Chaos” I whispered. I was happy to see him.

He was what I needed right at that moment. I felt safe with him.

The feelings were coming back again to my heart.

I saw myself on a huge bed. I moved myself near the edge of the bed and I tapped the bed so he could climb on it and he did as I motioned and he laid his huge furry body beside me.

I hugged him as my hands were caressing his fur.

“Thank you so much for saving me. I was so scared”. I started to sob and he licked my tears away.

“Chaos, why does Henry hate me? What did I do for him to hate me? Wasn’t he supposed to love me like I love him? Wasn’t he supposed to feel some pull towards me?” I asked him. I was such a mess inside.

I was overwhelmed, I was crying and I still felt rejected.

Chaos snuggled his hugeness into me as I did the same to him.

We stayed quiet for some minutes.

“Please, don’t leave me”. I held him tighter after I pleaded, and he shook his head in reassurance.

Chaos was what I needed right at that moment, I felt such a connection with him.

I don’t know if it’s because they were my mate and I was hurt, I needed to make sure what he was feeling about me.

“Chaos, do you love me?” I asked him and he licked my face and wiggled his tail, making me smile at him.

“I love you too, you and Henry, but I just need you right now until I can face Henry and don’t feel so rejected” I told him honestly, “It really hurts, you know?” I said, snuggling into his furry body.

I ended up falling asleep. When I woke up again, Chaos was still there with me and I smiled.

The doctor came in.

“You’re awake, do you want to eat something?” She asked me.

“Actually yes, I’m starving”, I told the doctor and she turned her back to leave.

“Doctor”, I called her and she turned around.

“When can I leave the Hospital?” I asked her.

“Well, I’d rather you stay tonight and by the morning if you wake up feeling OK, I’ll release you, all right?” She asked and a smile formed on my face and I nodded dramatically.

I decided I would try to take a walk and Chaos helped me, always standing by my side for me to support myself with him.

Afterwards, having him helping me, I felt like I could walk properly and I sat on the bed again.

Then I thought about my mom. Is she ok?

I wanted to ask but I wanted to stay with Chaos a little bit more.

I guess if something had happened, someone would have told me already, right?

The nurse came in with the food. I was about to eat when Chaos growled at me and I startled.

“Chaos?” I whispered and then he threw my plate away and he shifted back to Henry. He quickly held the bedsheet and covered himself before turning to the nurse.

“Who the hell did this food?” Henry asked the nurse with a loud and threatening voice and I frowned.

What the hell was happening?

“Henry, what happened?” I asked him.

“The food is poisoned by wolfsbane. I wonder how come nobody noticed it” he said firmly, and the nurse startled.

“I’m sorry, Alpha. I didn’t know, the food was already there at the door for me to bring the tray”, she said, and Henry nodded at her.

Then it seemed like he was mind-linking someone.

The Doctor came in.

“Alpha, I heard something breaking, is everything all right?” She asked him.

“No, someone tried to poison my mate. I want to know everyone that went to the kitchen after you ordered the food”, he ordered her and having him calling me as his mate made something warm fill my heart.

Was he really worried about me?

He was very uneased and enraged.

“Henry…” I called to him and held his hand, trying to calm him down.

He soon relaxed with my touch. He looked at me and he held me in his arms.

“Lindsy, I’m sorry. Honestly, I’m so, so sorry. I won’t ever let anything bad happen to you, ever again” he said, and my eyes opened wide in surprise.

Afterwards, he got dressed again.

I knew we had a lot to talk about later. I wanted to know everything about him.

I wanted to know why he didn’t tell me before that we were mates. Why couldn’t he just talk and listen to me?

I could understand that, as an Alpha, he had to protect the pack, but I knew that there was something else in it.

When he said he was going to reject me, I felt a pain that I never thought I could feel, the whips were nothing compared to what I felt that night.

I wanted to know why he could say it so easily, because even now, I’m sure as hell that I don’t want to reject him, I want to fight for him, for us.

And I’m not even 18 yet, but I needed the reassurance that he’d do the same for me. I’m insecure and lost right now.

But as far as I'm concerned, I’m tired of having people trying to kill me and I also wanted to know what’s going on.

He held my hand and soon his cellphone beeped and he took it out of his pocket, sitting beside me but never leaving my hand and he checked the message with another hand. Henry opened it and a video was playing on the screen.

The footage showed that my tray was already on the door and someone wearing a doctor's white coat approached and put something on the food and quickly mixed it and left right away. I think I’ve seen her before.

Then I remembered her. She was that woman named Eva.

“Damn it, I’ll banish her from this pack”, Henry said, determined.

“How come she did it having security cameras all around the Hospital?” I asked him.

“Yes but this one, specifically, was a hidden security camera. We have another camera right on the Luna and Alpha’s door but Alex sent me a message saying that he couldn’t access it and he attached this video with the message, that’s so f*****g unbelievable”, he mumbled, finishing watching the video, and I frowned.

I was so done with having people trying to kill me, like, for real.

I stood up.

“Henry, I want to do it. I want to be the one to give her the news she's banished”, I told him with determination in my voice.

He smiled at me and caressed my face with his fingers.

“Anything you wish for” he whispered.

“And don’t you think we don’t have a lot to talk about”, I told him firmly.

I didn't know what got into me by talking to him like that, he looked down like he was in pain. My heart clenched but I wouldn't back up now, we needed this talk if we wanted to settle things up.

“We do, but first you need to eat and rest” he said, and I really could use a sleep right now so the time can pass by really quickly.

Suddenly, Hunter knocked on the door.

“Come in”, Henry said, and he came in, said hi to us, and he left a bag with Henry and soon turned around to leave. Hunter was never a talking person.

I chuckled over his reaction.

Henry took the food out of the bag and placed it on the table for me.

I thanked him and I ate it all very quickly. I was starving. Then I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and went straight to bed.

I laid down on the bed and he sat on the chair. I wanted to ask him to join me, but I wouldn’t do it without having everything clarified between us.

I fell asleep after some time.

When I woke up, it was still 3am and Henry was sleeping on the chair. I felt bad for him.

I moved and Henry woke up startled.

“Lindsy, are you OK?” he asked. It was the first thing he said, making it very clear how worried he was about me.

“Yes, I am. Henry, come lay beside me, please”, I told him. I couldn’t stand it, seeing his huge frame sleeping on the chair.

“It’s fine, Lindsy. I need to stay alert in case anyone tries something against you again” he tried to coax, but I knew he was just hesitating because he was feeling guilty.

“You don’t need to feel guilty, you’re not responsible for other people’s actions”, I told him, and he looked down with a frowning face.

“But still, I’m the one who made you vulnerable” he said, and I was going out of patience.

Why did he have to be so stubborn?

“Henry, please, just lay beside me already”, I said with determination, and he just nodded.

He laid and I was going to give him space but he quickly wrapped his arms around me and we cuddled, I almost disappeared on his embrace and it was the best thing I’ve ever felt, apart from our kiss, of course.

We both relaxed and we slept some more.

I woke up and I found myself in a warm embrace. Henry was awake, still holding me, and I looked up at his beautiful blue eyes, making me realize that it was a bad move because my heart swelled.

Why did he have to be so handsome?

Stubborn and handsome. He ran his finger through my hair and stared intently at me.

“How are you feeling?” He asked, before kissing my forehead, and I frowned thinking about his question.

“I’ve never been better”, I told him honestly, my voice wasn't louder than a whisper.

He was acting surprisingly gentle, he was always gentle and respectful, but it always seemed like he was always restricting himself and now, I’m feeling somehow…loved.

Henry stood up and after a few seconds, the doctor came in.

I also wanted to have that amazing sense of hearing when my wolf wakes up.

“Good morning, Luna Lindsy. How are you feeling today? I will have you checked and if you’re OK, I'll release you right away”, she smiled at me and I smiled at her back. She was so caring, not at all like Eva.

“Alpha, here’s the names of everyone that passed in the kitchen” she said, handing him over a paper with a list.

“Thank you, Crystal” he said.

She checked on me, I walked and did everything she ordered me to do.

“All right, it seems you’re pretty good. I’ll release you, then”, she said, and I couldn’t have been happier.

“You should have breakfast before leaving” she said.

“I will take her to eat somewhere else”, Henry let her know, and I was glad.

I didn’t feel like being inside the hospital for either a second more. Actually, I did because I wanted to have a shower before leaving.

“Can I shower before?” I asked him.

“Of course, take your time” he said, and I went for a shower.

I put on my lotions after it, got dressed and dried my hair.

I was impressed by Henry, he even packed my dryer.

I smiled over his sweet care.

I just let my hair loosen and left the bathroom ready to go.

“Lindsy” he called me, staring at me.

His expression looked like he was seeing me for the very first time and, actually, I was enjoying it.

“You’re stunning as ever”, he said, cupping my face.

I thought he was going to kiss me but he kissed my forehead instead.

I smiled at him, he held my hand, intertwining our fingers and grabbed my bag with his other hand and we left the Hospital, finally.

“I will just place the bag inside the car and I’ll take you to eat something” he said, and I nodded.

After he left my bag in the car, he took my hand again and we went to a nice restaurant near the Hospital.

We ordered and we were waiting for whatever we ordered to arrive.

He took the seat across from me and he held my hand.

“Lindsy” he called me and my gaze found his blue ones, making me melt all over him. I guess I know my weakness now.

“I promise you I will spend the rest of our eternity trying to make you the happiest she-wolf all over the Werewolves Realm”, he said.

My breath hitched for a second. He was definitely acting differently from before.

I was going to say something, anything, but our food arrived.

We ate in a comfortable silence and we made our way to the Pack House.

I felt ready to talk to him after seeing how he cared for me.
