It was Saturday morning, and Lara stood in her kitchen, staring at the nearly empty shelves of her pantry. No more coffee, barely enough rice, some instant noodles and her fridge was mostly a graveyard of forgotten condiments and a lone egg. She had been so distracted lately she hadn’t even noticed how empty her kitchen had become. She sighed. “Well, guess it’s grocery day.” Lara had just finished changing into jeans and a soft blue blouse when her phone buzzed. A message from Reagan lit up the screen. Reagan: Good morning. Got any plans today? Lara paused, thumb hovering over the screen. She hesitated for a second before replying. Lara: Just heading out to do some grocery shopping. Why? A moment later, another message came in. Reagan: I’ll come with you. She blinked at the screen.
