I sit in our small, cluttered living room, helping my mom with her morning routine. Today is my mum's doctor's appointment and it’s a good thing it’s during the day off Emily gave me.
“Mom, are you ready for today’s doctor’s appointment?” I asked her, helping her tie her scarf.
She nods, her face etched with worry lines.
