Anastasia’s POV
I pour drinks for a customer, trying to shake off the lingering fatigue. It's been a long night, and I'm not sure how much more I can take. Emily approaches me, her expression serious.
“Ana, the boss is here and he wants you to serve him in the red room,” she says quietly.
My heart sinks.
No, no, no. God no, my heart sinks immediately. My feet felt heavy all of a sudden and I couldn’t move.
Not today. He wasn’t meant to come around today. I'm not even mentally prepared to see him.
I thought I had more time. How could this happen to me?
“Ana, are you okay? Are you even listening to me?” Emily asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Emily, I...I don't know if I can,” I stutter.
Emily's eyes lock onto mine.
