On the terrace of the Whitmore family estate, a small private gathering was taking place.
Those present were all Alex’s childhood friends.
Each was either wealthy or noble.
Logan Pierce, the heir to the Pierce Technology Group, stood at 186 cm tall, with a lean build, a love for extreme sports, and a carefree attitude.
Ethan Montgomery, the second son of the Montgomery Energy Group, stood at 187 cm tall, with a muscular build, and was a true playboy.
Julian Fairfax, the eldest son of a top automotive group, stands at 187 cm tall, has mixed-race features, and a steady temperament.
When Alex appeared before them.
Logan suddenly jumped up from the sofa, rushed over, and reached out to pinch his face.
“Holy crap, you’re really alive! Let me see if someone else got plastic surgery to impersonate you.”
Alex frowned and reflexively grabbed his wrist, nearly pinning him to the coffee table with a counter-twist.
“Ouch—it hurts!” Logan winced in pain, “Damn it, even with amnesia, you’re still so aggressive?”
Julian casually remarked, “With that reaction, it’s definitely Alex.”
Alex let go of his wrist and looked around. “Are we close?”
The three of them replied in unison, “Of course!”
Logan held his “injured” wrist, his tone tinged with resentment. “Our bond is so strong we could share a pair of underwear!”
Alex: “...”
Ethan chuckled and asked, “Alex, how did you get so tan? Did you spend the past three years mining coal?”
Logan stifled a laugh, “I heard that after he was taken in, he helped with fishing and selling fish every day. How could he not get tan?”
Ethan teased, “Who was so bold as to let the sole heir of the Whitmore family conglomerate sell fish?”
“Wrong, there’s also fishing.” Logan added.
Everyone fell silent for two seconds, then burst into laughter, echoing across the entire terrace.
Alex showed no expression on his face, picked up the red wine in front of him, and took a sip, “As long as I’m alive.”
“That’s true.” Ethan managed to stop laughing, “Luckily, you didn’t lose any limbs.”
Julian pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up his nose. “Alex, what have you been through these past three years?”
Logan chimed in, “Yeah, yeah, I’m super curious. How did you end up fishing and selling fish?”
Ethan scolded, “Logan, enough already. Can’t you give our Alex some face?”
Logan retorted, “I’m just curious. Besides, what embarrassing stories don’t we already know?”
The four of them had grown up together since childhood, knew each other inside out, and were well-versed in each other’s embarrassing moments.
“It’s all in the past. There’s nothing to talk about.” Alex was uninterested, his tone cold.
The three exchanged glances.
Julian comforted him, “Alright, let’s not dwell on those unpleasant things. What matters is the present.”
“By the way, Alex, have you really lost all your memories?”
Logan steered the conversation back.
“Yeah, I don’t remember anything. I had my assistant contact you guys to come over because I wanted to learn about my past.”
Logan patted his chest confidently.
“Well, you’ve come to the right people. The three of us know everything about you.”
“Remember when we were in Sanya and you insisted on deep-sea diving, only to get stung by a jellyfish on your butt?”
“Hahaha!” Logan laughed so hard he slapped the table. “You insisted you were fine, but that night you ran a fever of 40 degrees and your butt swelled up.”
Alex’s lips twitched slightly: “You made that up, right?”
“It’s true,” Julian said calmly. “If you don’t believe us, we still have the video on our phones.”
Alex: “Delete it!”
Logan smirked: “Don’t be like that. Maybe watching it will jog your memory.”
Alex’s face turned as dark as a pot bottom.
“Alright, alright, let’s talk about something else.”
Ethan showed his phone screen saver, “Look, this is a group photo of the four of us.”
In the photo, the four of them were teenagers, standing in front of a helicopter, with the Alps snow-capped mountains in the background.
“At the time, we made a bet—whoever could reach the destination fastest would win the wager.”
“You were especially reckless, betting that ultra-rare sports car that only exists in three units worldwide, and ended up breaking your bones yourself.”
Alex looked at the photo of himself in a cast, lying in a hospital bed, and his temples throbbed.
“Where is that car now?”
“Of course it’s...” Logan straightened his collar and said proudly, “In my garage.”
Alex could confirm that these were a bunch of troublemakers, taking advantage of his amnesia to expose his embarrassing moments.
“Aren’t there any glorious achievements of mine?”
“Of course there are.” Logan said, “Alex the Young Master’s glorious achievements are countless.”
“Then why didn’t you mention them?”
Logan curved his lips into a mischievous smile, “I think embarrassing moments are more stimulating and can help you recover your memory.”
“We’re trying to help you, and you’re not even grateful.”
His eyes looked like those of a resentful young wife.
Alex couldn’t bear to look and averted his gaze, “Then keep talking.”
After being bombarded with memories by the three troublemakers, he roughly understood what kind of person he used to be.
In his youth, he had a rebellious and domineering personality and enjoyed thrilling activities like street racing.
As an adult, he was cunning, kept his emotions hidden, and acted ruthlessly and decisively.
In short, he wasn’t someone to mess with—he held grudges.
This was completely opposite from the description his mother gave of a well-behaved, steady-tempered teenager.
However, he leaned more toward his three friends’ description—perhaps he had only pretended to be normal in front of his mother.
As the conversation wound down, Alex suddenly asked, “Do you know about me and Sophie?”
The three froze.
Their wine glasses halted mid-air as they exchanged glances.
Alex narrowed his eyes. “What’s with that reaction?”
Logan rubbed his chin: “Hmm, well...”
“To be honest, we were also surprised that you ended up with Sophie privately.”
When they found out that Sophie had approached the Whitmore family while pregnant, claiming to be carrying Alex’s posthumous child, they were all speechless.
Ethan leaned in and asked, “Alex, what are your feelings toward Sophie now?”
Alex took a sip of red wine: “The child is already here. What else can I think?”
Julian nodded, “That’s true.”
Ethan muttered under his breath: “Who says there can’t be other thoughts? There are plenty of ways.”
The other three looked at him.
“Why are you all looking at me like that?” Ethan said, “I just think Alex doesn’t need to be tied to Sophie.”
“That child was conceived without Alex’s consent. Who knows if Alex ever even spoke to her?”
This implied that Sophie had used underhanded means to conceive the child.
“Don’t call me heartless. If this were me, I’d definitely pay to keep the child.”
“Hmm hmm hmm~” Logan shook his head. “Ethan, I didn’t expect you to be such a heartless man.”
Ethan was emotional: “What kind of heartless man? Don’t act like pure-hearted warriors in front of me.”
“We all know that marriage isn’t something we can control.”
He was speaking the truth.
With their family backgrounds, they could play around privately, but the main wife had to be someone of equal status.
Clearly, Zhou Secretary’s family background couldn’t even get her into the Whitmore family.
What’s the point of having a child?
Looking around, there are countless examples of women who gave birth to children but couldn’t enter the ranks of the wealthy.
Alex lowered his eyelids, his mind filled with Sophie’s playful scolding.
