Sophie knew in her heart that her fabricated family background was actually full of holes.
According to her current identity, she is a rich girl who graduated from a prestigious school; her father is living overseas, and her mother is a university professor and doctor.
She applied for the position of president’s secretary just to exercise herself.
Sophie has carefully designed this seemingly reasonable family background in order to climb up the ranks of the rich and powerful.
Unfortunately, without real financial support, this lie cannot stand up to scrutiny.
Moreover, with Whitmore’s family connections, it would be too easy to verify her fabricated identity as a “rich girl”.
Thinking about it, she decided to disguise herself as an unsophisticated but decent young lady.
Alex looked at the photo in his hand, but his heart was not rippled.
He calmly asked, “You’re my secretary? We’ve dated before?”
Sophie nodded her head in a hurry, “Well, we met and fell in love at work, but we didn’t make our relationship public because of the disparity in status.”
Alex lifted his head; his eyes fell on her face and surveyed her for a long time.
Sophie had long practiced a strong heart and allowed him to scrutinize her without showing the slightest hint of weakness, and even managed to show a shy expression at the right time.
“Alex, would you like to hear a little bit about our relationship?”
Alex’s hand paused as he flipped through the album, “Sorry, I don’t remember any of it at all.”
Sophie dropped her eyes in mock loss, but quickly perked up again.
“It’s okay, take your time. We have plenty of time; we’ll remember someday.”
Alex didn’t respond.
Sophie was not annoyed by the cold face and continued to say eagerly, “Alex, you’re curious about what you went through before you lost your memory, aren’t you? Can I tell you about it in detail?”
Alex did not raise his head, “There’s nothing to tell; it’s all in the past.”
Sophie couldn’t figure out his attitude for a moment. Was he starting to annoy her? Or was he hiding something in his heart, deliberately distancing himself from her?
She knew in her heart, after all, the time they spent together on the island, they have long been secretly in love.
But she wasn’t about to break that window.
Although she had given birth to the Whitmore family’s first grandchild, she and Alex hadn’t gotten a license or had a wedding, so ultimately the name wasn’t right.
She must take advantage of Alex’s memory loss and hurry up to sit down as husband and wife.
As long as the license is issued and they become a legal couple, she will be able to secure her position as the Whitmore family’s youngest grandma.
As for whether Alex loved her or not, whether he could treat her as a lover, she didn’t care at all.
What she wanted was money, not Alex as a person.
Sophie quickly gathered her emotions, “You know, let bygones be bygones; what matters is that you are back now.”
As she said that, she covered her white and silky hand on the back of his hand; her fingers slowly dug into the crevices of her fingers, trying to interlock her fingers with his.
“What are you doing?” Alex reflexively pulled his hand away.
Sophie was stunned for a second, then her eyes and eyelashes fluttered slightly as she looked hurt, biting her bottom lip lightly.
“You used to love to be forehead to forehead with me, fingers interlocked, and you don’t react to me that strongly.”
“I don’t like people getting close.” Alex moved two steps to the side, separating the two of them.
Sophie commiserated, “Alex, we’re a couple, not someone else.”
“We were once so close; you don’t remember.”
“Everything can be taken slowly; only being close to you, I will not back down, not one step.”
She said her hardest words, but trailed off lovingly, her tone as if she carried a hook.
Alex looked at the delicate, stunning face in front of him. The creamy skin was flushed with thin powder; the slightly pouty pink lips were delicate, and the pair of charming eyes were always seductive.
Really a special thing.
The knot in his throat moved, “I know; I’ll try to get used to it, but I also want you to give me some time.”
Sophie took a well-timed step back, “Okay, I’ll try to restrain my desire for you.”
“You should be tired; I’ll run a bath for you so you can have a nice soak.”
Alex refused, “No, I’ll do it myself.”
Sophie beamed, “Fine, if you need anything, call me anytime; I’ll be at your beck and call.”
“Uh-huh.” Alex turned around and took long, quick strides towards the bathroom.
Sophie looked at his hastily departing back and hooked her lips.
-
In the luxurious bedroom, a nightlight was left on the bed, emitting a warm yellow glow.
A slender shape rumbled on the large bed, and light breathing came from time to time.
“Honey?” Sophie whispered in his ear, “Are you asleep?”
Alex’s eyes were closed and he was breathing evenly, as if he were asleep, but his eyelashes fluttered imperceptibly.
His lips were pursed and his jawline was tense, deliberately maintaining some kind of perfect ‘sleep state’.
Pretending to sleep.
Sophie’s eyes flashed with a hint of amusement, and her fingertips gently tweaked his eyelashes.
Alex remains still, determined.
She suddenly leaned over, closing the distance between the two of them; her warm breath deliberately brushed against his lips.
Alex’s eyelashes visibly fluttered.
Sophie hooked her lips and smiled lowly, and in an instant, her voice became miserable.
“Hubby, I’m really afraid that this is a dream, and when the dream wakes up, you’ll disappear.”
Saying that, she crouched down on his chest; her fingertips stroked his pajama buttons and turned them.
Her movements were slow.
Alex’s muscles tensed extremely tight and his breathing gradually became rapid.
He finally couldn’t tense up any longer and snapped his eyes open, stopping her movements by clasping her wrists.
Where was there any sleep in those dark eyes? What there was was a burning dark fire.
Sophie not only didn’t break free from his grip, but instead deliberately leaned forward; her red lips almost pressed against his ear.
“Hubby, I’m so afraid that this is a dream.”
“Don’t worry; it’s not a dream.” His voice became tight.
“But I can’t feel you; it makes me insecure. I need to feel your presence.”
“Honey~, let me feel you, okay?” Her voice grew more and more compelling.
Alex was silent; his eyes stared at her as if he wanted to see through her.
Sophie curled her lips and nipped the knot of his throat in his tight silence……
