At the Haus of Renee

Amara POV

As I entered his sports car, the scent of his cologne and lavender filled my nose. The car seats were a mixture of red and black leather seats.

‘‘Buckle up ’’ keeping his voice cool and calm.

The sound of the engine roared as he put the keys in.

Then he hit the accelerator, and there was instantly a tight knot in my chest.

My hands gripped the edge of my seat tightly each time he increased the speed.

‘‘Please I don’t have two lives ’’ I scream

‘‘I have done this a thousand times, and besides, you only live once, so why not enjoy it ’’ he said

I gave him a look of disdain.

‘‘Are you seriously kidding me ?’’ I asked

He glanced over to me

‘‘Hold unto your caps ’’ he said

‘‘Slow down please ’’ I begged

My pulse quickened, and I fell so dizzy I could only see black and white as we passed through the city.

‘‘Julian, do you want to make me puke all around your fine leather seats , I don’t like this please, can you slow down ’’

‘‘We are almost there, just hold on tight ’’ he said

I held onto the handle of the doors for my dear life.

‘‘This isn’t the reactions I usually receive when I give others a ride, they are usually filled with thrill and excitement ’’

‘‘Well, that is probably because they don’t realize that you have a death wish hanging over your head ’’ I said

His reaction immediately turned cold.

He slowed the car down a bit.

There was abrupt stop, and he came down from the car in from of Haus of Renee

On arrival at Haus of Renee.

Haus of Renee is the most exquisite and fashionable house in the city.

Jullian came down from his sports car and handed it over to the parking attendant.

He came all the way to the other side and knocked on the window of the car door.

‘‘I hope you weren’t planning on sleeping there ’’ he asks

dog to sleep in ,talk less of a human ’’

Then I step out of the car.

We enter, and we are immediately greeted by the front door receptionist.

‘‘Hello, Mr Cross, lovely seeing you today ’’ she says and gives us both a warm smile

He walks ahead, and I follow behind; he does not even look back.

A lady appears out of nowhere. She is wearing black glasses over her glass skin and bright red lipstick.

She left her blonde hair flowing down all the way to her back.

‘‘Should I be flattered or worried that Jullian came to see me ’’ she said without flinching.

‘‘Don’t flatter yourself, Renee , I didn’t come for chit chat today, I came for this young lady,’’ he said, trying to cut her short.

She gave a half smile and proceeded to lead them in. Renee took a good look at me.

‘‘It’s nothing we cannot handle ’’ she said as she came closer to study my face.

‘‘Good, I am trusting you with her ’’

‘‘I expect her to look her absolute best.’’. He said

‘‘You can count on that’’ she said with a wink

She turned to me

‘‘Hello, I am Renee, it’s nice to meet you ’’ she said as she brought her hands out for a handshake

I shook her hands, and she took off her dark glasses, revealing her glassy face.

‘‘I am Amara ’’ I said

‘‘Nice meeting you, Amara’’ she said, sounding a little bit

‘‘I will be going for a meeting, what time will she be done so I can come pick her ’’

Renee shifted her attention to Jullian

‘‘Tops four hours we would be done ’’ she said

‘‘Okay, I will be off ’’ he said and walked off to his car.

Renee studied me for a second before speaking

‘‘Right this way ’’ she said, ushering me into a room.

The light in the room was extremely blinding. On the door, it said VIP.

She was met by the stares of some staff members in uniforms

‘‘Sit here ’’ she said, pointing to the leather chairs

Amara's pulse quickened as Renee reached for her hair.

I have always been used to doing my hair by myself and not allowing anyone to touch it.

‘‘My barber would just be giving your hair a little trim ’’ she said with a smile, touching my hair

‘‘ Wh Wh What?’’ I stammered

‘‘Don’t worry hon , you are going to absolutely love it’’ she said, signaling to a guy who stepped forward.

‘‘This is Justin, and he would be in charge of your hair ’’

‘‘Hi, I'm Justin ’’ he said, smiling warmly as he draped the cape over her.

I glittered a bit as he put the cape over my neck

‘‘Hi , I am Amara’’

‘‘Easy now, gorgeous, I am not a villain with scissors ’’ he said, trying to calm my nerves.

‘‘I am not sure about that, everyone seems to want my hair chopped ’’

‘‘Not me, sweetheart, I just want you to look your absolute best,’’ he said with a smile

He winked at me.

Renee smiled

‘‘I’ll be leaving you now, but be assured you are in one of our best hands,’’ she said, reassuringly giving Justin a quick squeeze on the arm

I nodded my head calmly, even though my blood rushed quickly through my veins.

He handed me a tablet.

‘‘Check through the catalog and see what works for you, I’ll be right back’’ he said, dashing into a small store on the left

I glanced through the photos of at least a thousand photos.

The numerous choices made my head ache.

Justin came back with a handful of products

‘‘Decided yet ’’ he asked, putting the products on the mirror table.

‘‘Nope I haven’t found what I would like. I mean, the haircuts are fine and all but I don’t think it would suit me ’’ I said with my mouth twisted downward.

Justin stood behind me and studied me in the mirror.

He smiled to himself as if a light bulb just went off in his head.

‘‘I got the perfect hairstyle for you ’’

He said, collecting the tablet from me.

I gave him a puzzled look.

‘‘So what I am going to do is to give you a blunt shoulder cut and work on the tip , it would make your eyes pop and bring out the beauty in your face ’’ he said

He looked at me intently, waiting for me to respond

I thought about it for a moment.

‘‘Okay, I’ll do it ’’ I replied

His face lit up.

‘‘That is wonderful news ’’

He turned my chair away from the mirror and went to work immediately, washing my hair

After the procedure was done. He called a lady.

‘‘Hello, I am Lizzie, and I would be in charge of your facials ’’ she said with a smile.

She massaged my face with various oils and cleansed it, and waxed my brows before applying makeup on my face.

After the whole procedure was done

Renee came back.

‘‘Close you eyes, dear ’’ he said

I did as I was told and he rolled the chair to face the mirror

‘‘Woah ’’ I gasped

I touched my hair that was perfectly aligned with my fingertips

Renee was pleased.

‘‘You look absolutely stunning ’’ she commented

‘‘Well done, Justin, Good job, Lizzie’’ she commended. Making them both smile.

She went to the store can came out with a large bag full of products.

‘‘That must be Jullian’’ she said .

His eyes softened for the first time.

‘‘Amara .. he stammered my name, trying to regain his composure.

He ran his eyes quickly over my body and instantly changed into a tight expression. Making his eyes unreadable and the small flicker in his eyes instantly vanishing.

‘‘Can you get the machine ’’ he said sharply

Renee got the card reader, and he swiped his card.

He instantly started walking out.

I stood there stunned, unable to move.

‘not even a comment or compliment, so the saying is true, he is actually a complete jerk ’

‘‘You coming ?’’ he turned back, looking at me.

‘‘Huh, Oh yes ’’ I stammered

‘‘You might want to get those ’’ he said, pointing at the bags.

‘‘Seriously, a total jerk ’’ I whispered under my breath.
