Amara POV As I walk by mindlessly through the halls , I can’t help but notice everyone is staring at me. I walk to the newsroom and sit at my desk. Maya Hart, one of my chatty and nosiest co-workers, rolls her chair over to my side. The screeching sound of her chair made my ears almost fall out. Maya comes so close to me ‘‘Breaking news, who had a splash this morning, I mean literally a splash,’’ she said I stare at her. Not looking up from my computer ‘‘Well, about the stray dogs ban .. ’’ I said before she cut me off ‘‘Our very own Julian Cross caught up in a coffee collision with you, how weird is that?’’ I finally lifted my head from my computer, looking at her. ‘‘Ohh, so you know about it ?’’ I ask ‘‘Yeah, the whole building knows about it,’’ she replied ‘‘Even my grandma called me this morning to ask about it, apparently she heard about it from her friends at the elderly home,’’ she continued I rolled my eyes at her comment ‘‘Apparently, you are trending now, baby girl. The universe just made you a girl who spilled coffee on. Jullian Cross, I mean the Jullian Cross,’’ she added. ‘‘It was an accident,’’ I yell, and the remaining two people turn to face us ‘‘I am so sorry.’’ I apologize and bow. She turns her head to me and is about to talk when. There was a Knock on the door. Mr Flynn Walker walks in briskly with his perfectly tailored suit, which fits him like a glove He bows his head in respect to everyone who is in the room. Maya turns to Amara. Men in black have arrived,’’ Maya whispered, giving a half smirk to Amara. She tucks her hair behind her ears I stiffen in my chair as Flynn stops directly in front of my desk. His gaze was fixed solely on me ‘‘Hi, I am Maya Hart,’’ she said, trying to shoot her shot. He bowed, still keeping his gaze on me. She hissed loudly, rolling her chair back to her desk. I tried to look away. ‘‘Amara Blake ?’’ He asked I hesitate, leaning back in my chair and keeping his gaze ‘Depends on who is asking, ’ I respond. Flynn doesn’t bother any further questioning; he just hands her a folder. ‘‘Miss Blake, Mr Cross requests your immediate presence at his office,’’ he said ‘‘Me ’’ putting my hands to my chest. ‘‘Request, more like summons her,’’ she mutters Her loud comments made Mr Flynn look in her direction, almost causing her to stumble ‘‘Sorry ’’ she apologized. The was an awkward silence afterwards ‘‘Miss Blake,’’ he calls out, breaking the awkward silence ‘‘I will come later, I have some task to complete,’’ I said ‘‘That won’t do, I was told to bring you this instance,’’ he said. I looked at my desk, and I picked up my phone. ‘‘You will be needing that ’’ He pointed at the black folder on my desk ‘‘What is this for ?’’ I ask curiously when we step out of the newsroom. ‘‘You will find out when we arrive there, ma’am,’’ he said ‘‘Right this way,’’ he said as he ushered in the vip elevator and through a roll of glass room. At Julian Cross' office I follow Mr Flynn into his office. In this office every everything seems monochromatic. His walls are dark brown. Filled with books behind him, all of which are either black or brown hard back My eyes catch the special case filled with awards at an angle that is facing the door. There is a little wine cellar beside the large glass window. On the other side, where there are brown coloured sofas, there are three large portraits of trees and nature which cover almost the entire wall. There is a large, bright chandelier which is the middle of the entire room. He is seated at his mahogany desk, where his pc is. He seems to be busy. He takes a Quick Look at me from where I am standing and stands up ‘‘Sit there,’’ he points at one of the sofas. What is this ?’’ I ask, holding the folder up as he sits down. ‘‘In There is a contract ’’. I immediately opened it and began to read through the content. ‘‘I will give you a few minutes to wrap up and read the contract in your hand.’’ His cold eyes were fixed on me the entire time while I was reading. I lean back in my chair, tapping the folder gently. ‘‘So this is it, you intend to trap me for three months, then I become your shadow .’’ He says nothing in response, making my blood hot. ‘‘This contract or this your act is a prison sentence, I am going to be entangled with you for three months filled with all these clauses, so I will belong to this your act.’’ ‘‘Belong is a strong word, I would rather say collaboration, this is mutually beneficial to us both, you crave exposure, and I need damage control .’’ He says. ‘‘Exposure, Mr Cross, I am not some intern who is trying to build up my resume, I already have a good career, unlike you, one scandal can destroy you completely.’’ ‘‘A partnership with me can set your career on fire and make you a hot shot that everyone will want, Amara Blake.’’ ‘‘ And if this ever blows up,’’ I say with my brow raised ‘‘Trust me, Ms Blake, they will hate me, not you. I have gotten used to being the villain in everyone's story.’’ Julian was grinning slightly. ‘‘Remember this, no one else would give you what I can give you. This contract is just open for a little while ’’ he added. ‘‘You mean you intend to control me?’’I say and stand up ‘‘I mean to give you power, if you are smart enough, you would take it, while you still can ’’ I leave the folder on the coffee table and exit his office. Back at home There is a knock on the door. I checked the door cam to see if it was Lucy, my neighbor. I open the door. ‘‘Hiiiii’’ she greets in her sing-songy voice. ‘‘Hello ’’ I reply ‘‘You are wearing your dull face, rough day, huh?’’ she asks I look over at her. ‘‘Yeah, pretty much, is that obvious?’’ I say. ‘‘Yeah,’’ she said, coming close so she could brush my hair. ‘‘So spill, do not leave any detail out ’’ ‘‘I met the most eligible bachelor of Warrington’’ Lucy begins thinking Her mouth falls in shock when she realizes ‘‘You met Jullian Cross,’’ she said, and her hand was over her mouth. I roll my eyes, and she catches my gaze. ‘‘Yeah, twice. ’’ I say ‘‘Not the type of first impression I would have hoped ’’ ‘‘So what happened?’’ ‘‘He shouted at me in front of the entire coffee shop.’’ ‘‘Seriously, what happened ’’ ‘‘I mistakenly spilled my iced latte on his suit, making him flare up ’’ ‘‘Omg, that must have been terrifying ’’ ‘‘Yes, the suit cost a million dollars ’’
