Wyatt sent Morgan and Doc back to the jail house to hold down the fort. Then he and Virgil asked around about Dr. Eldrich Davies and learned he was staying in the Grand Hotel. Largely because most everyone had a general disdain for Englishmen, no one had anything good to say. “He looks shifty” and “there’s something strange about him” were the two most frequent claims they heard from the people of Tombstone.
When they arrived at the Grand, Wyatt and Virgil questioned the hotel manager about Davies, but learned little beyond the fact that he was a good tipper, and that the manager didn’t much trust him either.
They also found that the good doctor was out.
“I think he went to get a shave and a haircut,” said the manager.
“Any idea where?”
