Chapter 12Rob When Rob saw Alejandra's toothbrush in his bathroom, something clicked in his mind. There was a woman in his house. There was a woman in his life. He hadn't noticed how empty his life had been until now. He'd thought it would be difficult, and he knew it might be at some point, but so far it was pure joy. The mirror showed his mother's reflection by the door. She was smiling. “Let's get you dressed. Hack and Janice are already here.” He maneuvered the electric wheelchair out of the bathroom and into his bedroom. “Thanks, but I can manage.” “I'm glad. Let me see.” “Mom…I'm not a child anymore,” he whined. “Good. About time,” his mother said, a hint of a smirk lifting the corner of her mouth. Rob chuckled. He was an oversized little kid in his parent's eyes, wasn't he?
