Chapter 21Alex “Please, ladies…” The soldier held two face pieces, one in each hand. “You want us to use a muzzle? What are we? Dogs?” Alex asked, hands on hips. She was fully dressed in a burka. The soldier chuckled. “No, you didn't!” she said, with a straight face but a twinkle in her eyes. “C'mon, Alex… Leave the poor man alone,” Janice chimed in, with a tiny smile and bobbing her head. “It's called a battoulah. Consider it an improvement. This way you don't need to cover the full face with cloth and can actually breathe.” “What's next? A collar and a leash?” “I don't know about that.” He sobered all of a sudden. “But, trust me, you want to use the whole thing when outside at all times.” “Tell us why,” Janice asked, her voice almost a whisper. “I don't know how to say this…”
