UNEXPECTED BRUNCH ENCOUNTER

562 Words
Meanwhile, back in the city, Ken is living his best life. He doesn’t seem to be someone whose engagement has just ended with a woman he grew up with, sharing countless memories and coming from families that are well-known and well-to-do. News has spread like wildfire about Ken and Katrina no longer being engaged, but it doesn’t seem to matter to him. Instead, he continues to flirt with other women and attends parties, savoring his newfound freedom like a bird released from a cage, eager to enjoy every moment. Lucy went to get brunch at a cafe and she saw Ken seated there with some of his friends “Hey Lucy” Ken called out. “Oh hi there Ken” she replied. “What a lovely surprise; it’s so good to see you," he added. “It’s nice to see you too” He walks up to Lucy at the counter and begins to talk further “What brings you here?” He asked “I just wanted to get brunch” “You should try their famous brunch platter, it’s really delicious and filling” he said “Okay thank you I will give it a try” she said Ken tells the waiter to add her bill to his bill and told her not to worry about it, but Lucy rejected the offer at first because of the breakup between her best friend and Ken. “I think I can handle the bill” she said “See it as a favour and besides you’re not a stranger to me” he added Lucy struggled in her mind but later accepted the offer, he also asked for her contact so that they could talk some other time and she reluctantly gave him her contact and left. “Woah what was that about in the cafe?” She said to herself as she left “Is he trying to be the good guy now?” She said laughing out loud “This would be a perfect gist for Katrina” But in Lucy’s mind, she still can’t help but phantom how he is so chill and her best friend is so heartbroken and even had to leave the city to a new location just to clear her head on everything that has happened so far. She pulls out her phone and begins to text her best friend about what had just happened between she and Ken at the cafe a while ago. “ guess who I bumped into today?” “Uhmm who?” Katrina replied later on "Omg, I just saw Ken at a cafe, and he paid for my order. I didn't want that initially, but he insisted on paying." “Maybe he feels guilty for what happened between us and offered to maintain a good record around you” Katrina replied “Hmmm just maybe”. “By the way, how are you doing over there?” Lucy asked They both continue to chat, and Katrina tells her a little about what is going on over there. “Nothing really serious; I'm trying to forget about him, and you, baby face, have just brought his memories flooding in again," she said, laughing. "Hahaha, I’m so sorry; I just thought it would be fun to let you know what I had experienced today”. Lucy replied.
