By nightfall, Katrina and Mrs. Leonardes were ready to attend her friend's birthday party. She and her daughter get into their luxurious car with security and their driver driving them to the venue of the birthday party. **** THE BIRTHDAY PARTY The Leonardes had arrived at the birthday party, and it was so filled; different wealthy families were in attendance. You could see different models and colors of luxury cars being parked in the parking lot of the celebrant's house, all with their drivers, and some had security with them too. "Mom, I feel so nervous," Katrina said. “Why do you feel so baby?” Mrs. Leonardes replied. "Mum, look at the number of people here; it’s like a Met Gala ceremony for celebrities. I thought it was going to be more of a private celebration." “Gina is loved by so many people, so that’s what you get when you’re a lovable person, come on now let’s go inside” As they walked inside, the reality of the moment began to dawn on Katrina, all she wanted was just some time to go outside, she thought the party was going to be somewhat private and not this elaborate kind of celebration, there were ushers standing by the side of the door ushering people in, and when you get in, there were more ushers attending to people’s needs, some were already being served wine and some food. The food there was in a buffet style, you could go serve what ever you wanted and it had different types of food, from appetizers to main course and deserts; literally anything you can think of. The soft music was the only thing that felt comforting to katrina in such a crowded place and the feeling that she was there with her mother, she quickly found a corner to sit down while everyone was busy socializing. Not long after the celebrant came down to meet her guests and greeted them with a warm welcome speech appreciating their presence, they all raised their glass to a toast and sang a happy birthday song for her. Gina was heavily adorned with jewelry and accessories, she wore a gold strapless dress, the dress was flowing to the ground, she had a beautiful silhouette for someone of that age, to cut it short, she was breathtaking. She was widowed and now single, she has been taking care of her husnands business after his demise, but she has been doing well with his property since then. Mrs leonardes soon caught up with Gina and she introduced katrina to her. “Hey Gina, meet my daughter Katrina.” Mrs. Leonardes said as she gestured for me to come forward and meet her. "Hello, Mrs. Gina, and happy birthday to you.” Katrina said “Good evening dear, you look so beautiful… just like your mother.” Gina said “Thank you ma, and you look stunning too” Katrina said “She came around recently and I decided to invite her to your birthday party so that she could mingle with people a bit” Mrs leonardes said “Oh dear, there are lots of young gentlemen here, I pray you meet someone you like” Gina said. And just like that, katrinas mum had soon disappeared and was caught up in between some acquaintances of hers and katrina was left all alone. She let curiosity take the best of her during the party and she was busy going round looking at the art portraits hanging on the wall and admiring the work of art in the house, she also looked at some of the family photos on the wall, you could tell that Gina was loved just from looking at these photos and she just knew that she would miss her husband so much everyday. Judging from the photos, she could almost conclude that the husband died years ago, almost too early in their marriage, she instantly felt pity for Mrs. Gina. Katrina got tired and went up to the water fall outside the house and sat by it, just having different thoughts, she was not thinking about a particular thing, but her mind was all over the place, she was getting bored when someone walked up and tapped her slightly on the shoulder, she jolted in shock and her wine had spilled on to her dress. “I’m so sorry, I’ve been trying to call you to get your attention but it wasn’t working so I had to tap you” William said “My name is William” he said as he tried to offer me a napkin to clean my dress. “I’m Katrina” I replied still trying to get myself out of shock and have a proper conversation. “What were you so lost in thought about my lady?” William asked as he brought himself to sit close to me. “It’s nothing, I just wanted to get away from all those noise, it was becoming too much for me so I decided to come out and have fresh air” “You look so beautiful, I’m sorry for the stress my mum likes elaborate things and even parties” “Oh Mrs Gina is your mum?” “Yes dear, I also came out to receive some fresh air when I saw you seated all by yourself here and I wanted to know why.” “Are you here with someone?” William asked “Yes, I’m with my mother, Mrs Leonardes and she is inside” Katrina replied. “You mean the Leonardes family?… waw it’s a pleasure meeting you Katrina” “It’s a pleasure meeting you too” “Let’s take a walk around, do you mind?” She stood up and followed William to take a walk around, and they began to speak more in a bid to know ourselves. She learnt he was single and he looked handsome, maybe he was the replacement she needed from Ken and he soon learnt that she was single too, she could see his eyes lit up with joy. “Can I have your contact please so we can catch up even after the party?” William asked. Katrina didn’t even hesitate, and she gave him her contact. “What could possibly go wrong? Besides, if I were serious about getting over Ken, then I should consider giving other men my contact to see how suitable or compatible we could be over time.“ katrina muttered to herself. The night began to feel very cold and it was noticeable, William quickly pulled his suit jacket and gave it to her, so she wouldn’t freeze in the cold, she smiled and thanked him for his kind gesture. “Thank you William, I didn’t know you noticed I was getting cold” I said “Pleasure is all mine Katrina” he replied. She was already running out of patience waiting for her mum to be done with the party so that they can head home, but she was having too much of a nice time in there. She knew William could tell that she was getting tired, but she was not tired of him, she was just tired of waiting for her mum and her not getting enough of the party. Just as she was about giving up, her mom finally came out laughing so loud, and the leonardes security quickly held her in the car. She said my farewell to William, handed his suit jacket back to him, and went to the car with her mom in it and they drove home.
