Chapter Two

2201 Words
As Holly promised, Greyson did not sleep in her room that night. She had locked the door and pulled her dresser in front of it for good measure. Though she knew if he really wanted to get in, that would be no problem for him. She only heard him try her door knob once, though. "Holly! Holly, wake your ass up!" Holly was woken up to Colton banging on her door and yelling. "You got in way before I did last night! You don't get to sleep later!" "Leave her alone." Holly heard her brother say. But he was too late. She was already stirring and rubbing her eyes. She looked at her alarm clock to see it was well past eleven. "Now Holly!" "I am up, Colton!" She yelled back at him. "You can stop being an asshat!" "NEVER!" He yelled and she heard footsteps running down the stairs. After a quick shower she went down stairs. In the kitchen she found half a pot of coffee and a very shirtless Greyson. His black hair stuck out in spikes as if he had ran his hands through it a million times. His skin stretched tightly over his muscles and the sweat slicked over him gave him the illusion of a glow, giving him a Godlike presence. He was currently making what looked to be a meatsglaore sandwich. It was piled high with ham, turkey, pepperoni, and some other meats Holly wasn't sure about. "Look who finally decided to join the living." He said with a smile. "Wanna sandwich?" Holly took another look at his food and shook her head. Instead she walked over to pour herself a cup of coffee and grabbed a danish from the flash dish at the center of the island, taking a seat on a barstool. "Are you still not talking to me?" Greyson asked as he put the meats back in the fridge. Before she got a chance to answer Colton came running into the room, looking as if he was heading to workout in a wife beater tank and black basketball shorts. He looked from Greyson to Holly and then to Greyson's sandwich. "That is a big sandwich." He pointed. "Are you going to eat all of it?" "Yes." Greyson replied, pulling the sandwich toward him as if he thought Colton was going to lunge at it. "Come on!" Colton hopped up to sit on the counter and bushed his dark hair out of his face. He turned his big blue puppy dog eyes toward Greyson. "Just half it with me." "Make your own." "And make me one while you are at it." Sam said, walking across the room. Unlike the other two boys, Sam wasn't dressed in workout clothing. Instead he wore a button down shirt and jeans, his blonde hair gelled. "I think Greyson should make us both one. Since he is obviously so good at it." Colton said, looking to Sam. Greyson flipped him off as he took his sandwich and took a seat beside Holly. "I really don't see how Josiah keeps food in the house with you three." Holly said, shaking her head. "He doesn't." Colton said, hopping down and walking to the fridge. "He sends Marie to do it." "Not what I meant." Holly said. She glanced over at Greyson to find that half of his sandwich was already good. "Animals. All of you." "So where are you off to?" Colton asked, directing his question to Sam. "I am meeting a group of friends in town." Was all Sam said, taking a sip of his drink. "You are going to be back in time for our run tonight." Greyson said. Not a question. Without giving Sam time to reply he turned to Holly. "I am going to go take a shower. Wanna come with me? I'll let you help me wash." "Dude." Sam said, shaking his head, standing up. He cast one more disgusted look in their direction before leaving the room. "No." Holly said, once he was gone. "I have had a shower." She popped the last remaining piece of danish in her mouth and stood up. "I am going to get some reading done since apparently I can't go anywhere outside of this house without the two of you trailing me." "Hey." Colton yelled, pointing at her as he put the top on a sandwich that was even bigger than Greyson's had been. "You leave me out of this. That wasn't my idea and you know it." "So yes, you are still mad at me." Greyson said, shaking his head. "Fine. Be mad all you want. I would rather have you mad at me than hurt." With a roll of her eyes Holly stormed out of the room. Holly stayed in her room with her book most of the day. Greyson only stuck his head in twice to check and see if she was still mad, which she was. It wasn't until she heard a car pull up, did she move. Looking out the window she saw Josiah get out of his Lexus. The sun had fallen over the trees and she only saw him due to the large light they had in their front yard. "Where has he been?" Holly asked herself, watching him. Usually Josiah worked from home in his office, running his business from there. Rarely did he ever have to go into his actual office. And she had never known him to go into work on a night they were going to go for a run. "Holly." A knock came on the door and then Greyson stepped inside. "We are just gearing up for our run. Are you coming?" "No." She said. "I am not going." "Since when?" He asked. "I don't need to." She said, shrugging. She had been thinking about it most of the day and she didn't want to go out on a run with Greyson. She still wanted to be mad at him and she knew that would change if she went on the run. "Fine." He nodded. "I won't go either." "Like you have much of a choice." She laughed. "I went earlier this week with Colton. Your eyes are turning violet by the minute now, you couldn't hold out even if you wanted to." "I can wait until the full moon. For you." "No, Greyson, you can't." She said. "Just take a look in the mirror. You have to go on this run otherwise things might get a bit harry at school, don't you think?" Greyson seemed to consider all of this, his jaw set. He looked at her and narrowed his eyes. It was then that she knew she had won. "Fine." He finally said. "But you are not to leave this house. If I even catch the scent that you have left, I will hunt your down as I am." "Yeah yeah." Holly rolled her eyes, turning back toward the window. Josiah was gone. "Josiah isn't going to be happy about you staying behind." "I think he will be fine with it." She said. "You are the only one that seems to care. But just for kicks, I will go talk to Josiah." Holly brushed past Greyson leaving him where he stood in her room. She found Josiah in his study, removing his tie. Josiah and Colton looked just alike, the only difference was that Josiah had the look of age. Wrinkles creased across his forehead and by his eyes and gray scattered across his beard. Though he didn't look bad, just mature. "Did you go into work?" Holly asked and Josiah looked up. He smiled at her. "Yeah." He said, laying the tie on his desk. "There was a kink that they couldn't workout without me." He shrugged. "Are you ready for the run?" "I am actually not going." She said. "I went with Colton earlier, remember? So it isn't like I need it." She was suddenly nervous that Greyson might be right. That Josiah would be angry with her for not going with the rest of the pack. She began to nervously twirl a strand of her blonde hair. "And I have a ton of homework that I have put off..." "Not to worry, Holly." Josiah waved it off. "I figured you wouldn't want to go anyway." "You did?" "I might not be as young as the other people in this house, but I can still tell when a couple is fighting. Greyson paced his room most the night last night." Josiah rolled his eyes. "Had to put ear plugs in to cancel out his heavy footsteps." Josiah was the leader of their pack and his senses were more intune. So for him to hear Greyson in his room which was right next to his wasn't a surprise. Holly blushed and nodded at the truth of it. "Thank you, Josiah." She said and looked at the paperwork on his desk. "Anything I could help with?" "Oh, no." He shook his head, collecting the papers she pointed to and tucked them away in his desk. "Simple stuff that would only bore you. Would you go gather the boys and tell them that we are heading out soon?" "Sure." She said, and took her leave. She went to Colton's room first, pounding on the door as he had to hers this morning. "Leaving soon. Hurry up, asshat!" Without waiting for a reply she moved onto Greyson's room. The door was open and the room was empty, which wasn't a shock. Greyson didn't spend a whole lot of time in his room. She closed her eyes and tried to listen for him, but unlike Josiah, she came up empty. She checked most of the rooms in the house before finally finding him in the living room, on the couch. "Josiah said you are heading out soon." She told him. "And he was fine with you not coming." "Yep." Holly said, turning to head back upstairs. "How long are you going to stay mad at me, Holly?" Greyson called after her. She didn't reply, but finished walking up the stairs and to her room. It wasn't a lie that she had homework to finish. It was about an hour after Holly had heard the pack leave for their run and she was sitting at her desk doing homework, just as she told Josiah she would be doing. It was then she heard what sounded like one of Josiah's glass vases falling to the floor and shattering to pieces. She jumped up, it startling her. There wasn't anyone else in the house and they didn't have any pets. Then it hit her, it was probably just Greyson, back early, because he couldn't stand the thought of not controlling her. She rolled her eyes, threw down her pencil, and stormed downstairs. "Greyson!" She yelled halfway down the stairs. The pack hadn't left any of the lights on when they left, so it was very dark. But with her heighten senses, Holly could see fine. "I swear to God, this has to stop!" As she reached the bottom of the stairs a large dark figure jumped out in front of her. It took her a moment to register that he wasn't someone she knew. Why hadn't she smelled someone else in the house? He was wearing a black ski mask over his face with night vision goggles on over that. A hunter. He raised his arm and jabbed at Holly. Holly was able to dodge, but the knife cut her arm, sending unbelievable pain through her. It was pure silver. Holly bared her teeth, at him, taking a step back, before leaping. She was able to get her claws out before contact with him, slashing down his chest, though he got another stab at her arm. Get that damn knife out of his hand! She yelled at herself. "Who are you?" Holly yelled at him, trying for a distraction as she dodged another blow, jumping over the staircase railing and coming up behind the man swiftly. The man able to side step when she lunged at him, easily, seemingly trained. She growled, the silver in her system forcing the transformation to begin. She was already on all fours and roared. The man, who would have had his kill shot right then, was standing there looking terrified. It was as if he didn't know what she was at all. He looked at her, a blonde wolf with eyes glowing red, and took a few steps back, falling. Holly pounced on him, taking her paw and knocking the knife across the room. He was moving himself backward fast in fear. Holly was still confused. If he had been an actual hunter he would have known about her being a werewolf. He would have even seen one before, so why was he acting scared now. "Go!" She roared. In wolf form they weren't able to say much, but when they did speak, it boomed. The man didn't have to be told twice. He got to his feet and ran from the house, leaving his knife behind. Once gone, Holly fell to the ground from the pain, blacking out after a few moments.
