Chapter 21 - The Story Of Typhon & Bravus

1518 Words
Abigail "No sweetheart. Not even close." Were the words that came from Bravus' lips. Before I knew it he was pulling me away from the crowd, to a secluded area near the bar. I tried reaching out, grabbing hold of anybody so that they may help me. But I couldn't. Somehow I was completely paralyzed - my body moving on its own accord. I was like a dog on a leash, dutifully following it's master. Blind panic engulfed my insides, as Bravus and I came to an abrupt stop. The panic rose even further as he turned to look at me, sending multiple shivers down my spine. "I am sorry for what I am about to do, but you must understand - I have very little choice." He said whilst eyeing me, looking almost tormented. "B..But you don't. You don't have to do anything. Just please, let me go!" I wept, still unable to fully move. Bravus gave a shake of his head sadly. "Again, I am sorry, but I owe my life to Typhon. My loyalty to him is incomparable to none other than my mate." "Your mate? And what exactly would your mate think of you? Handing over a young girl to some psychotic, murderous Demon!" "She would think nothing, for she is dead." He answered, with a look of pain on his face. "Now, sleep." He commanded, touching my forehead. ..... I could feel myself regaining lucidity as my eyes struggled to open. The first thing I noticed was the stench. It smelt like something had crawled up a demon's ass and then died. It was foul! I couldn't help but gag, making vomit force it's way up my throat. Trying to compose myself, I decided on taking slow, shallow breaths through my mouth. The second thing I noticed, was the silence. I strained my hearing, hoping that there may be someone around that could possibly help me. The only noise came from the chains that held my hands firmly in place above my head. My body started aching in places I didn't even know existed. I'd finally started to gain back some movement within my body - not that it'd make much of a difference. Finally able to open my eyes, it appeared I was being held in some sort of cell. The room was completely dark, if not for one candle in the corner casting a soft glow over the room. I pulled on the chains furiously. They would not budge. Anxiety took a hold of my body as I tried desperately to free myself. I knew that it was very likely that Typhon would be here soon, and once he was - I'd be done for. Tears pricked my eyes falling freely when I realized the severity of the situation that I was in. No matter what - I had to get out of here. As if right on cue, footsteps sounded out almost quaking the room with each step. Either that, or it was my heartbeat that I could hear, rushing in my ears. Any hope that I had within myself had slowly died, as I felt the sinking feeling inside of me whenever Typhon was near. Immediately I stopped moving, going limp at once. The cell door creaked open. I could almost hear the smile on his face. "Crying already, sweet Abigail?" he laughed, making my eyes snap to his. "But we haven't even started yet..." My head sagged in defeat as he approached me slowly. Every single hair on the back of my neck stood on end as he reached forward, taking my chin in his hand. His soulless orbs danced with mischief as he forced my eyes to meet his. "Let's have a little chat shall we?" He said, in both a dangerous yet sickly-sweet tone. "I'm sure you have many questions, but I think it's appropriate that we start with a little story first." When I didn't reply, he took it as a signal to carry on, clicking his fingers and making a chair manifest in front of me. Once he'd taken his seat he leisurely laid back, as if he'd had all the time in the world. "I wasn't always like this, you know." He paused, scratching at the arm of his chair with his claw. "Long ago, when I was a younger demon, out looking to make a name for himself, I traveled the worlds near and far. I was looking for anything to finally put my name on the map. One day, after a run in with an Enforcer Demon - Bravus - you know Bravus don't you?" "The one who kidnapp..." I managed to squeeze out, before Typhon shushed me quiet. "Shhhh. It was a rhetorical question, Abigail. No more interruptions from you." He clicked once more, as a zip appeared across my mouth, stopping me from speaking completely. "So, where was I? Ahhh yes, Bravus... One day, it just so happened that my travels took me to Bravus' village. Khamilay. Khamilay had already been ravaged due to a civil war between demon royalty against the lower classes. His kind had been hunted to near extinction, always being forced on the run due to their unique abilities that they possess. You see.. As I mentioned before, Bravus is an Enforcer Demon. Enforcer Demons are trained from their first steps, to hunt, kill, protect. Back in the day, they were protectors of the demon royalty - bodyguards of the highest caliber. Depending on their bloodline, each clan had their own specific abilities. Some could read minds, some could shapeshift. Some could even turn invisible - making them excellent assassins. You understand, I assume?" I nodded, even though I was well aware it was another rhetorical question. "Fantastic. Anyhow.. As I'm sure you can imagine - these certain 'qualities' not only made having an Enforcer Demon on your side highly desirable, it also made you highly feared. High ranking demons were already difficult enough for an enemy to kill, but high ranking demons paired with an Enforcer? Almost unstoppable." Typhon paused, taking a deep sigh. "Eventually, demon royalty didn't just have other demons to worry about. Angels had soon caught wind of just how powerful that we were becoming, making the tide turn dramatically. Eventually, the lower class demons would turn in their own kind - giving the location of all the Enforcer Demon's villages. It led to a m******e. The Angels would s*******r whole towns, villages, Enforcer demons from birth. They didn't care!" He raised his voice, slamming his fist into the arm of his chair. "The day I made a visit to Khamilay, a trio of Angels had come, killing every Enforcer Demon they could find. I had stumbled upon Bravus and his heavily pregnant mate, Aktar, hiding in their cellar, underneath their home. Aktar was heavily bleeding, wounded severely by an Angel Blade, until I came along and managed to heal her. The three of us made a run for it as soon as it had quieted down, only we didn't realize that we were being watched by one of them, until it was too late. The Angel came from no where, grabbing Aktar by her throat, slicing it clean open. Bravus of course, lost his mind, pulling out the Quills from his own body, stabbing her murderer over and over, unable to stop. This of course, gathered the attentions of the other two remaining Angels, who soon came to try and kill us too. They attacked us with full force, Bravus full with rage was not thinking straight - trying to attack them head on. I managed to push him out of the path of the Angel's Blade, taking the hit myself." Typhon explained, pulling his shirt open and showing me a huge, jagged scar in the center of his chest. "As Bravus lay with his dead mate, welcoming death in his despair, I pulled the blade from my chest, killing one of the Angels as the other fled... f*****g coward.. I managed to convince Bravus that death was not the answer. We must get stronger - have his revenge. Luckily he agreed with me. After drinking the blood of the Fallen Angels, I got far stronger than before, hungering for more power. I found the fastest way for that - were to gain souls." He grinned, flashing his fangs at me. "Demon and Angel souls were not so easy to gain - after all, they truly knew what they'd be signing away. Humans however.. Well, they were far more greedy, consuming creatures. They were also easy to trick. Getting a human to sign away their soul was nothing more than a transaction. Mostly everyone would ask for the same things, such as good health, wealth, or seeing a loved one come back from the dead. As soon as they signed their souls over, they could have their wishes granted.. for a time. After that, they'd all end up in here.." He said, pointing to his ring and giving it a gentle tap. "Your 'parents' however.. Well. They wanted a child."
