Chapter 18 - Going Public?

"Yesss! Amazing shot! Well done to New Guy's team! You are today's winners!" Shouted the teacher, with infectious enthusiasm. My fellow team mates jumped up, punching the air and cheering both mine and Moloch's names. It was unheard of for the underdogs to win in this school. I was overcome with happiness. "Told you I'd win, didn't I?" Laughed Moloch walking towards me with a confident swagger. "I think you'll find that I got the winning shot, Demon boy." I retorted, turning away from him and joining the rest of our team on the sidelines. Many of our team mates approached me, both congratulating and thanking me for beating Melody. Even some of the opposing team did. I was feeling happier than ever, until I realized that she would be biding her time until she could get her revenge. I'd made her look stupid, and no one has ever done that to her before. "Hey Abi." Said Adam, approaching me whilst rubbing his shoulder. "Hey Adam." I replied, a little nervously. "I'm sorry if I hurt you.. It was unintentional." "Don't be. It was worth it to see Melody be smacked in the face with the ball." He laughed. "What a shot!" "Ha! I know right?" I said, laughing along with him. "Friends still?" "Friends." He said, gripping me into a tight hug. I smiled, returning Adam's hug, when I caught eyes with Moloch. He was staring at the two of us with a nasty scowl on his face. Shaking his head at me, he walked off into the changing rooms. Just what was his problem? "So, do you want to go to the café again after school? My treat this time?" Adam asked, looking at me with a hopeful gaze. "I can't tonight, I have to babysit for the McAllistairs. Some other time though?" "You can count on it." He replied, winking at me. I joined everybody else in the changing room, glad that I wouldn't have to come face to face with Melody just yet. Apparently after the game, she'd grabbed her belongings and stormed out of lesson early. I still decided to be extra cautious of my surroundings, just incase she decided to jump out on me from somewhere. After I'd finally finished getting dressed, I shoved the rest of my kit back into my backpack, hoping to get to my next lesson quickly. It would be my last lesson of the day, English - with Moloch. Part of me was dreading it, the other part was fizzing with excitement. No matter how much I tried, I just felt drawn to him. I yelped in surprise when an arm circled my waist, pulling me into the Janitor's closet and shutting the door behind me. We may have been in total darkness, but I already knew who it was. I could tell by the wake of goosebumps he left, as his fingers stroked up and down my arms. "We make a good team, don't we Abi?" His voice seductively purred against my ear, sending shivers to my core. "Moloch, what are you doing?" I sighed, trying to take a step back from him. With a click of his fingers, a flame floated in the air above us, illuminating the closet with a gentle glow - Just enough so I could see his dangerously handsome face, that had a look of longing upon it. "I was just hoping for some privacy.. So that we may talk.." "Did you use the same line on Melody, when you were in this same closet with her, not even two hours ago?" I retorted, huffing in annoyance. Moloch chuckled lightly, causing further butterflies to swarm inside of me. "Are you jealous Abi?" He smirked, moving towards me so that my back was now pressed against the closet door. "You shouldn't be, Melody doesn't hold a candle to you." He added, looking me in the eye so that I may see his truth. My heart was hammering in my chest, threatening to break free at any moment. I hated Moloch just as much as I was drawn to him. I knew that he was bad for me, but I couldn't help but gravitate towards him nevertheless. Standing on my tiptoes, I kept my eyes on his as I pressed my lips against the warmth of his. He stood in shock for a few seconds, before he finally registered what I had done. We both closed our eyes as he snaked his arms around my waist, pulling us impossibly closer. Our lips moved together both slow and passionately, as if time had stopped, and nothing else mattered. This wasn't like our previous kiss. This was electric. I broke our kiss, suddenly remembering where we were. The janitor's closet wasn't where I envisioned my first 'proper' kiss to be, but it didn't matter to me. It was still perfect. "Damn! We have to get to English!" I remembered, yanking him by the arm and pulling him outside. We both laughed as we ran to our lesson together. Thankfully we were only late by a few minutes. One look from Moloch and the teacher just nodded, ushering us to our seats. After explaining everything to us about today's lesson, Moloch and I got down to work. He was right in what he said earlier. We do make a good team. Our project would end up taking us the next two weeks to complete, meaning that we'd have to spend a lot of time together outside of school. I was worried of running into Typhon, but as Moloch explained he now had a house here within this realm. His 'Tutor' from the Underworld was here with him, posing as his mother. The purple, spiked demon that I previously saw, Bravus, would also come to check up on him every now and again. He almost scared me just as much as Typhon did. The bell was about to sound at any minute. Moloch and I gathered our books slowly, trying to stretch out the time left that we had together. "You know Abi, we can do the project at my house. You can even wear those cute little bear pajamas that I first saw you in, if you'd like." Moloch teased, placing his hand in mine. "We could start tonight if you'd like?" "Ah, I wish I could." I sighed. "Tonight I'm babysitting." "I could always join you" Charmed Moloch, sending me a seductive smile. I could feel my cheeks heating at his suggestion. My eyes involuntarily made their way to his lips, wishing we were back in the Janitor's closet again. "I don't think that's a good idea. The family that I babysit for have never allowed me to have friends over. Even Jess couldn't join me. Besides, I think I'll find you too distracting to concentrate at the job in hand." Moloch laughed, raising my hand to his lips and kissing the back of it gently. "Well Abi, if you change your mind, you know of the other way to see me too." He flirted, pulling me closer to him and slipping his fingers into mine. "Come on, I'll walk you outside." I could feel the eyes of everyone around us, on me. Moloch's arm was now around my shoulder as we walked along the halls, to the freedom of the school gates. People around us were whispering, probably wondering what a guy like Moloch was doing with a girl like me. Adam's eyes caught my gaze as he stood by the gate. He looked angry. Hurt. Before I could even say hello, he turned away from me, walking off with his friends.
