The Interrogation

Anna POV I woke up from my recurring childhood dream confused it had been years since I had that dream I don’t know what made it come back. My Oma had been diagnosed with cancer she left soon after to go back to Germany and just disappeared we never saw or heard from her again. We I woke up after having that dream for the first time I thought it was real my Oma told me I had just dreamed it all when I pointed out the scar on my wrist she said it was a scratch from the cat that had jumped into the bed while I was sleeping. The cat had never come in my room before but I guess that made more sense then my crazy dream. It was odd though that I had the dream again now, I hadn’t thought about it in years. I rolled over and looked at the time 7am. I had to leave for school in 20 minutes to make it to my 8am class on time. I hoped in the shower got dressed and headed to the kitchen where my amazing fiancé had hot coffee and breakfast waiting for me. “Good morning beautiful” Dean greeted me as I walked into the kitchen. “You slept for almost 14 hours are your feeling alright?” “Yes thank you for yesterday was just a little overwhelming! 8 hours of class with only a 10 minute passing period is harder then I imagined I told a half truth yes 8 hours of class was a lot but I left out the part and the boy with the stare so intense I stopped breathing. I didn’t want him to worry. “Ok babe well eat a good breakfast try to keep up your strength I’ll see your tonight!” He said as he walked over and gave me a good by kiss. “Thank you! I love you Dean, see you tonight.” I replied as he walked to the door. My first class went by pretty fast I rushed to my second class skipping the cafe trip this time not wanting to walk in late again. Made it just in time. When I opened the door the boy was waiting for me watching the door sitting in the same spot as yesterday. I scanned the room looking for a seat where I could hide from him but realized that the front seat by the door was the best choice I wouldn’t run the chance of bumping into him when I left the room and he would be behind me so I wouldn’t have to look at him. As soon as I sat down he leaned forward and said “hi”. Dammit I was hoping he wouldn’t talk to me. Now I would be forced to turn and face him to look into those blue intense eyes again. “Hi”I half smiled turning to face him. And there it was again the gaze so intense I felt like I might light on fire his blue eye looked like they were on fire! Just like the wolf! I stopped breathing again shock gripping my body how could he have those eyes? “Are you ok” he asked concern filling his face softening his expression making him almost look nice but there was still an intensity there under the surface he was trying hard to control. “Yes I’m fine just hungry” I said trying to make up and excuse for my bizarre behavior. I used my left hand to tuck my hair behind my ear a nervous habit I had when I felt uncomfortable or confused. When I did that I could swear his eyes tuned black it was only for a second and they cleared so fast that I almost thought I imagined it. I also thought I heard him growl it was low and guttural. He was glaring at my left hand. I looked at my hand to see what had caused such a reaction but all I saw was my hand looking normal with my beautiful engagement ring sparkling blue and rose gold looking beautiful and glistening as the sunlight shined on it through the windows. Just then the teacher began the lesson and I turned my attention to him motivated to actually listen to him today because yesterday I was in a daze the entire class and didn’t hear a thing. I could feel his eyes on me again burning me I tuned to meet them hoping that if he realized I was aware of his incessant staring he would feel some shame and look away. He didn’t he just looked right back at me staring just as Intensely like he was trying to read me trying to connect with my soul. I looked away, I couldn’t hold the intensity of his gaze anymore. I didn’t know what to do with it I didn’t understand what he wanted and why he was being so creepy. At least I should think it is creepy his behavior wasn’t normal but there was something about him that intrigued me that pulled me that made what to know the man behind those blue eyes that felt flattered by the way he looked at me like there was no one else in the world. Any other guy doing what he was doing and I probably would have reported them or told them off or told my fiancé and had him tell him off any other guy and would have felt threatened like I was about to become the victim in some stocker movie. But with him it felt different I was confused but maybe just a little flattered and maybe just a little interested. God what am I thinking? I have a fiancé, I chided myself internally. What was the blue eyed staring monster doing to my sanity? The teacher spoke for a little about hierarchical society in midevil times and then told us to break up into groups. It made the most sense for me and the guy next to me and the 2 behind me to form a group logistically, of course that meant I had to form a group with blue eyes. So me and the guy next to me turned our desks around “Hi I’m Dan” he said introducing himself “Hunter” the blue eyed monster said next. “Lily” the girl next to Hunter said “Anna” I finally said “Anna” Hunter whispered reacting to my name. We all looked at him and what he said next threw me “So are you married or just engaged?” “Excuse me” I replied shocked “The ring” he said gesturing to my hand “are you married or just engaged?” “Engaged!” I replied hotly “I wouldn’t say just engaged what does that mean? I’m engaged.” “How long have your been together?” Hunter countered. “3 years” I snapped back just as fast. “High school sweethearts then?” He responded without taking a breath. “No he’s older then me I was in high school but he was in college” I replied “Really? Wow?” He replied shock coloring his face this time making him pause momentarily before continuing “Your parents let you date a college guy at 17?” “Yes they did” I replied starting to get pissed off Lily looked uncomfortable and was fiddling with her pencil. Dan look amused. “Wow so how long were you together before you...” he began. “Excuse me” I snapped cutting him off” what is this an interrogation? We are supposed to be doing an assignment not playing 20 questions!” He was about to respond and then stopped as Dan gave him a leveled look. I suddenly felt very grateful for Dan’s presence. He smiled at me warmly with compassion in his eyes and something that approached understanding. “Do you guys know each other” I asked wanting Hunter to be on the receiving end of questioning. “Yes we been friends for sometime we just got back from a study abroad to Africa.” Hunter smiled proudly. “O are you from the same town?” I countered immediately wanting to keep the interrogation going. “No” he replied glancing at Dan who gave him a guarded look “Then how did you know each other before coming here?” I countered pressing for information that wasn’t my business. Two can play at this game I thought to myself. They looked at each other quickly and something resembling fear passed between them. “We were both in football and played against each other in a championship game” Hunter answered quietly. I was about to question them further but Dan cut me off “lets start the assignment shall we” he said gesturing at his book. “Sure, sorry to drag you into it Dan you seem nice I just wanted Hunter over here to get a taste of his rude interrogating behavior” I said glaring at Hunter. I smacked my book open to begin the assignment. For the rest of the period we worked on the assignment and turned it in before leaving the class.
