Chapter 2

2133 Words
Tyler POV I’m seated on an office chair, my legs crossed and my hands on the table as my fingers drum on the table rhythmically. I look around the room and everyone seemed just as impatient as I am. Soon enough the big man walks into the room, tall body, broad shoulders, all in a shiny italian suite. Some men in black suite tagged along, their black eyeglasses reflected the light from the bulb, I could tell those were his enforcers or bodyguards. “Good morning everyone,” he greeted in a husky voice. “Welcome to the Wolfs Den, for those who may not know me, my name is Adolf Radler, I am the Alpha king of all the werewolf packs in the midlands. As you all know some part of the midlands have come under attacks recently, so we’re here to discuss the security and secrecy of all werewolf packs in the midlands,” the more he spoke, the less I could pay attention to what he was saying. I was lost in thought as I pondered the situation with Eudorah. I couldn’t help it, as my mind kept drifting off to what had happened yesterday. I looked over at Beta Ryan, who seemed to be paying attention to what the Alpha wolf king was saying. I tapped him, “Hey Ryan, do you think you can cover up for me? I’m very disturbed, I have to rush back to redwood town,” I asked him. “Well if it’s an emergency, I don’t see why not,” he replied, lowering his voice so as not to alert the other Alphas in the den. “Thanks a lot Ryan, I’ll see you when you get back to redwood town.” I left the Wolfs Den quietly, and hopped into my car. It was about three miles to Redwood town, particularly Eudorah’s house was my destination. On getting there, I parked my car by the road and walked to their front door. Their house was a semi-detached building located on the southside of the town, they were the only shifters on this street as humans were the major occupants. After a few persistent knocks, Mrs. Bucha opens up the door, “Oh Tyler, It’s you, how’re you doing?” She greeted me on sight with a bright smile. “I’m fine ma,” I said, trying to be respectful as I walked into their warm home furnished with polished wood. “I was busy in the kitchen, so I didn’t hear your knock initially. Are you hungry?” she asked kindly. “Yes, my stomach is grumbling.” “Lucky you, I’m making scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes with some sauce,” Mrs. Bucha said excitedly. A typical redwood food, everyone loved mashed potatoes in this town. “I suppose you’re here to see Eudorah. She’s having a bath, she’ll be out in a minute,” she added. “Alright ma, I’ll wait for both Eudorah and my mashed potatoes,” I said as I took my seat on the cushion chair opposite the laundry place. “You know you both will make a great couple together,” she said as she retreated to the kitchen. I could perceive the sizzling sound and savory aroma coming from her kitchen. I smirked, Mrs. Bucha seems like she’d make a great mother-in-law. I noticed the redwood daily report paper on the table, skimming through its pages the title ‘Her epic fall’ caught my attention. It seemed to cover my rejection of Octavia as a mate, but it was written as a fantasy story to mask the reality of the story. This was suspicious as humans have been unaware of werewolves activities in the town. Its author’s name was Lady Pennyworth. As I puzzled over who Lady Pennyworth could be, Octavia walked across to the laundry in her towel, completely unaware I was behind her. She bent over to put her clothes in the washing machine, astonished by the sight I quickly glanced at the kitchen to make sure Mrs. Bucha wasn’t watching me, so I turned back to Eudorah and tilted my head to catch a clearer view of her round butt underneath that towel. That was dirty of me, but I couldn’t help it, my brain was filled with lustful thoughts — what I would do to her if I grabbed that booty cake of hers. This wasn’t the first time I was catching a sneak peak at Eudorah’s backside, I’ve always admired her round butt from afar. It would be true to admit that was an underlying reason to why I picked her as my mate, those cakes always looked so round in those strechy jeans she wore. Turning around, Eudorah was startled to see me behind her, “Oh my god! Tyler, what are you doing here?” Holding her towel tight to her chest. I was sitting calmly like I didn’t know she was right in front of me, I pretended to be reading the daily reports paper. “Oh Eudorah, didn’t see you there… I’m going through the daily report.” This was an awkward moment and we both knew it. “I’m actually here to see you,” I said as Mrs. Bucha returned with my food on a tray. “Sorry I’m just coming from the bathroom, let me get dressed, I’ll be out soon,” Eudorah said disappearing into the room. “Sorry for keeping you waiting, I see you kept yourself busy with the daily report.” “Yeah I did. This article written by Lady Pennyworth seems strange. It looks to me like a retelling of what had happened between Octavia and me, plus I have never heard that name Pennyworth before in Redwood town.” “I heard it’s her pen-name, she is relatively a new writer in town, but nobody knows who she really is, all we see is her articles at the back of the daily reports, and the townsfolk have taken a liking to it.” If this was a retelling of what had happened between me and Octavia the real question would be how did a human find out about that, enough to write it as a story in the town’s newspapers. This was a serious question and I wasn’t about to let the question slide without an answer. Then I looked at the washing machine and a gentle smile appeared on my face because Mrs. Bucha would never know I was also reading her daughter's backside. “Here’s a plate of scrambled eggs for you,” Mrs. Bucha dropped my plate on the table and went to invite Eudorah to come get hers. “Alright mum, thank you very much,” Eudorah said as she returned to takk her seat on the dining table. “Em… Tyler and Eudorah I think I’ll leave you two love birds alone now,” Mrs. Bucha said. It was definitely what I was thinking, privacy is needed, but silence very much followed. Eudorah kept looking into her food strangely. It gave me bad vibes, like she didn’t want to see me or the situation earlier with her was more awkward than I thought. She eventually breaks the silence, “So… How was the meeting with the wolf king at the Wolfs Den?” she asked “It was boring. The whole time I was there I couldn’t stop thinking about you, so I left to come here.” I said, trying to catch her feelings. “Wow that’s nice, but I’m surprised the Alpha king let you go, I’ve heard that he can be strict on other Alphas.” “He didn’t let me go, I left on my own accord, but Beta Ryan was covering for me though,” I told her, she looked a bit relaxed knowing Beta Ryan has got it covered. But still I couldn’t ignore the uneasy demeanour I noticed on her. “Hey, let's talk about you. You don’t look too good, I’m sorry for not calling you before coming to visit. If you’re not comfortable with me being around I could go and come back tomorrow.” “No, no Tyler it’s not you.” “Then what’s the problem, what are you worried about?” “It’s Octavia, she’s the one I’m worried about. She must have been hurt yesterday.” “So what! What do you care?” I asked. “She’s my friend, I think I should check up on her.” Of course Eudorah would be worried over Octavia, they’ve been friends since childhood, what was I thinking. Although I didn’t like this idea, I wanted to make Eudorah happy. “If you’re this worried about her then you should go check on her,” I said. She stood up and gave me a peck on the cheek, “thank you very much.” This brightened up my day, for the first time I felt good about this relationship. She then tells her mother, “I’ll be back soon, just want to check on Octavia, remember I told you I was worried about her.” Mrs. Bucha didn’t seem disturbed to me at all, “alright no problem, but what about Tyler, are you leaving him behind?” Mrs. Bucha sked her. I quickly interjected, “Oh! Not to worry mam, I’m about to take my leave too, I have some discussions to have with my Beta, Ryan.” I left just as soon as Octavia walked out, but I sat in the car for some minutes pondering Eudorah care foe Octavia’s feelings, I thought maybe I had been too harsh on Octavia yesterday, but I needed to be if I wanter Octavia off my neck, she would never have accepted a simple break up. I shrugged my thoughs off and drove straight to Beta Ryan’s home. Ryan lived alone since he haven’t found his mate yet, but often stayed at my place along with Belotti because I liked both of them to be close by, those two are my most trusted men and best men from all my encorcers, Ryan is the guy that gives advice, his brain works like that of a crazy scientist, while Belotti was my strongest enforcer, he has the strength of a lion. Night had quickly fallen and the weather was getting colder, he should be back by now. *** “Ryan!” I called out in front of his door, clearly he was inside. His bulb was on and I could see his movement, he was blasting heavy metal music. Typical Ryan, flexing boy. “Alpha Tyler, I’m so sorry I didn’t hear you,” he apologised quickly after opening the door. “Please come in,” he said, reducing the volume of the music and going to his fridge to get me a drink.” He stretched out a bottle of vodka to me, but I shook my head in rejection, “No, thank you Ryan. I’m not here to chill and relax, I just want to know how the meeting at the Wolfs Den ended.” “Oh, that’s right!” he responded. Beta Ryan sat down dropping the bottle of vodka on the table as he gave me the gist, “When you left vital information was passed about the secrecy and security of all werewolf packs in the midlands, Adolf Radler has requested that every pack in the midlands will give ten soldiers to help protect the vulnerable regiond in the midlands. “Ten soldiers, that’s just ridiculous.” “I’m afraid you may have to comply with the Alpha king’s demands.” “Is that all he said?” “No, it didn’t end well, The Alpha king identified all the alphas of the packs at the end of the meeting and quickly noticed you were missing, when I stepped in for you, he rejected saying he wanted to see the Alpha of the redwood pack.” This wasn’t a good situation, the Alpha king was known to be crazy sometimes. Since becoming Alpha king he has tried to instill discipline in all werewolf packs of the midlands. “Did you at least inform him I was out for an emergency?” “I tried to tell him, but he wasn’t interested in listening to anything I had to say. He kept insisting that your absence from the Wolfs Den was a disrespect to him and the other Alphas. In Fact he said you needed to learn a lesson.” Ryan needed to say no more. The Alpha king would have to come to redwood town if he wanted to speak to me about this. I don’t give a damn, this is my town and not the midlands.
