Execution

Everyone has their own business and with their own groups. Lorie was just looking and observing everyone in the room. Everyone was busy laughing and chit chatting – minding their own business. So, Lorie asked permission from her superiors that she want to go out and breathe some fresh air.

By the time she was allowed by them, Lorie immediately went out and she smiled. It’s been a while that she step foot in her birth place. It’s been months since the last time she was there. Suddenly, the thought of her mother and father came through her mind and she immediately went sad by the thought of them. She missed them a lot and she feels that they’re somehow close to her. She feels they are somewhere near from where she was because she can feel their presence. Or was it just her imaginations playing and her wishful thinking because she missed them and want to see them again.

Lorie let out a deep sigh and look up the sky to wish that she can see their parent again. She really longed for them and she also hope that they’re safe and just hiding like them.

Lorie was enjoying the scenery when Aliyah came to the picture and stood beside her. She was also looking at the view in front of them.

“You will soon get used of this life, Lorie.” Aliyah broke the silence between them.

Lorie gave Aliyah a menacing look and gave comment to her words sharply. “Get used to it? Did I want this in the first place? Did I wish to be part of your organization and shitty lifestyle? Are we forgetting something here?” nagagalit na sumbat ni Lorie kay Aliyah. Ang kapal naman kasi ng mukha nitong sabihin na masasanay din siya sa buhay na meron ang organisasyon nila. In the first place, hindi niya naman ginusto.

Natahimik si Aliyah sa sinabi ni Lorie. Walang imik na nag walk-out si Aliyah at hinayaan nalang si Lorie na mapag-isa roon.

Lorie was right. She doesn’t want to be part of their group or to be part of their lives. She doesn’t anything with them and what they do for living. She didn’t wish to be part of anything regarding with illegal activities let alone a big group of syndicates. But what choice does she have when she knew that her sister’s life is at stake if she won’t agree. Lorie can’t just let them hurt her and take the only family she has left.

One of Gustavo’s men approached Lorie to tell her that she needs to come inside as the Emperor or the Big Boss is coming in and they have to be inside. So, Lorie came with the guy and went to their group.

Everybody gathered around the hall and they lined up in both opposite side. A man announced in the room and inform them that the said Emperor is on his way. Everyone except Lorie, bend their heads down to pay respect or homage to the person they praise as Emperor. She was astonished on how these really make a big fuss over it.

When the palace doors opened, Lorie slightly bend her head down. She doesn’t want to pay homage to the Emperor but she has to do it since she’s part off them. She doesn’t want to admit it but she already part of the organization either she like it or not. She couldn’t believe that such things still exist in this time. She couldn’t understand why it’s very big of a deal to all of them.

“Our respect to the Emperor!” everyone chanted the moment the man sat on his throne.

  Everyone raised their heads in unison after paying respect to the Emperor. Some of them went close to him so that they can praise him or whatever they will do please him. While Lorie on the other hand, didn’t even bother to know him or care about him. She just stare at the man and was very curious what he looks like behind his mask.

Yes, the Emperor is wearing a mask and she couldn’t tell if she’s an old man or a young man. But by the looks of him, she assumed that he’s an elderly person and he holds a domineering aura with him. Just by simply looking at him, you can tell that he’s very powerful and influential. The audience he has right now proves it so.

“Everyone settle down now and any minute from now, the execution will begin.” A henchman announced and everyone settled in their spaces.

They waited for the main event to be started and Lorie’s heartbeat goes faster than the usual. Bigla nalang siyang kinabahan na hindi niya malaman kung bakit. Umubo si Lorie para pagaanin at pakalmahin ang sarili niya. Napansin ni Aliyah ang pagkabalisa ni Lorie kaya nilapitan niya ito. Alam niya kung bakit ito nababalisa. Hindi kasi ito sanay sa madugo at magulong larangan ng organisasyon nila. Hindi ito sanay sa bayolenteng mga bagay o pangyayari.

“Are you okay, Lorie?” Aliyah asked Lorie and tapped her shoulder.

“I’m all good,” pagkukunwari ni Lorie pero alam naman ni Aliyah ang totoo. Hinayaan niya na lang ni Aliyah si Lorie at bumalik sa gilid ng ama niya.

After a while, they heard a man and a woman screaming from a far. Everyone turned their heads to look at the main door as the voices getting closer and closer from where they are. The two men stood behind the close doors.

“Let them in,” Emperor ordered the guys and they did what they were told.

Pinasok sa loob ang dalawang tao na nagpupumiglas at sumisigaw, ninanais ng mga ito ang makawala bagamat parehong hindi makawala ang dalawa sapagkat malalaking tao ang nakahawak sa kanila. Hindi ma-explain ni Lorie kung bakit kumabog na naman ang dibdib niya habang nakatingin sa dalawang tao na hinahatak patungo sa harapan. Hindi niya maaninag o makita ang mukha ng mga ito dahil nakatakip ang mga mukha nilang dalawa.

Naghiyawan ang iba na naroon ng tumilapon ang dalawa sa paanan ng Emperador. Tumayo ang emperador sa kaniyang trono at hinawakan ang telang nakatakip sa mga mukha ng mga ito. Inaabangan talga ng lahat ang paglantad sa mga mukha ng mga espiya. By the time their faces were revealed, Lorie didn’t know what to react when she the two person she longed for. Unconsciously, Lorie took a step to go near their parent.

Yes, it was their mother and father that was held captive by the monsters she loathe the most.

Humakbang muli si Lorie para puntahan nga ang mga magulang ngunit hinawakan siya ni Aliyah para pigilan siya.

“What are you trying to do, Lorie?” tanong ni Aliyah sa kaniya. Nilingon ni Lorie si Aliyah at matulis itong tiningnan. Doon lang din napagtanto ni Lorie na muntik na niya pa lang sulungin ang emperador para iligtas ang magulang niya.

Walang ibang nagawa si Lorie kung hindi ang panoorin ang kaniyang magulang na binubugbog at kinakawawa ng mga walang hiya. Napapakuyom na lamang si Lorie sa kaniyang kamay habang unti-unting umuusbong ang galit sa puso niya.
