As expected, I found a few scattered fish at the edge of the coconut grove. They had been swept up by the waves and deposited among the trees and shrubs, leaving them stranded high on the beach. I found a sturdy branch and strung the five fish I had collected, intending to search for more. Just then, I spotted a dark shape further down the beach. Even from a distance, I could tell it was something man-made. My heart leapt, and I ran toward it. As I got closer, I whooped with joy. It was a backpack, a large one. It was stuffed to the brim.
