Joyce's pleading voice broke through the darkness. "Jasmine, please... can you give me something to eat? I'm starving." She continued, "I've only had a few berries these past two days, and I've had diarrhea twice. If I don't eat something soon, I'll starve to death." Her sobbing echoed faintly from behind the wooden wall. Jasmine replied quietly, "Alright, wait a moment. There should be some leftover roasted snake meat over there." She slipped back into the cabin, retrieved the snake meat, and left again without a sound. The sounds of loud chewing and swallowing soon drifted through the darkness, mixed with Joyce's muffled crying. She must have been eating too quickly because, moments later, she choked.
