Joyce's pleading voice broke through the darkness. "Jasmine, please... can you give me something to eat? I'm starving."
She continued, "I've only had a few berries these past two days, and I've had diarrhea twice. If I don't eat something soon, I'll starve to death." Her sobbing echoed faintly from behind the wooden wall.
Jasmine replied quietly, "Alright, wait a moment. There should be some leftover roasted snake meat over there."
She slipped back into the cabin, retrieved the snake meat, and left again without a sound.
The sounds of loud chewing and swallowing soon drifted through the darkness, mixed with Joyce's muffled crying.
She must have been eating too quickly because, moments later, she choked.
Joyce stifled her coughs, trying not to make any noise.
