ADINNA The world tilts. I can’t stop shaking. My body won’t obey me, not even a little. My chest keeps seizing like someone has reached through my ribs and is squeezing my lungs with their bare hands. I try, God, I try to breathe, but the air refuses to stay in my throat. It keeps slipping out, shallow and useless. My wolf thrashes so violently inside me it feels like she’s trying to rip her way out through bone. I dig my fingers into the grass, desperate for something to anchor me, but everything beneath my palms feels like it’s dissolving. The ground, the air, the voices, it all blurs, crawling together like wet paint smeared across glass. “I… I can’t…” I whisper, but the sound barely leaves my lips. Maybe it doesn’t leave at all. Maybe it’s only in my mind. Even I can’t hear it. D
